Saw that car once at an NEC show so had a chat with the owner, being only slightly curious!
Apparently the moggy was originally intended to have a flat4 engine designed for it but there wasn't the money, this guy built it as a tribute.

Tbh Dave. If someone’s gone to the trouble of engineering the engine conversion I imagine they’ve put some effort into the suspension etc. I’d say it’s almost certainly RWD using either a Ford (poss 5sp) or some type of MG box.

Yes, it is RWD still but can't recall what gearbox.

Re: That’s Different !!
Knew about the flat 4 bit Kev, would it have been based something along the engine in the Jowett because they ran into production costs?
Re: That’s Different !!
Hasn't that always been the story at BMC/BL? Yes, I read that Issigonis wanted a flat-4 for the Minor as well. One of the worst stories I read about was the spectacular Pinifarina 1800 concept was abandoned by Lord Stokes because BMC had made so many door pressings for the Farina-styled 1800 that it would have been uneconomic to stop production. So they carried on... Austin 1800, Morris 1800, Wolseley 18/85, Austin 2200, Morris 2200, Wolseley Six, Austin Maxi... man, those doors
PS - I reckon the Boxer conversion used a Ford gearbox. Standard 5-speed conversion for Moggies and Lee Noble designed his Lotus 23 replica around a Ford/Alfasud adapter plate...
Once upon a time the hot engine conversion for Moggies was the Lancia twin-cam. And the Rover V8, obviously
Re: That’s Different !!
I found these a few years ago and kept them.
I like the way the builder made it look very low key.
I also remember the Fiat/Lancia twin cam a popular swap into the Morris.
Bit of a chat on here, starts at the bottom of page two.
