Definitely a marmite car, I love it though. Can't stand marmite on the other hand!

My ex father in law nearly bought one when he sold a Chapparal GTV years and years ago. Thinking of that GTV, Im constantly looking out for it, seen it on a historic advert for BCA, I think it sold for about £1,500!

On the SZ - strangely I don't like the RZ that much personally, but It's all down to personal taste - My mum adored her apple green Austin Allegro!

I like Marmite.

But I don't like the SZ. Except the headlights. I like those 8-)

Actually, I'm struggling to think of a Zagato design that I do like - maybe some early Fiats, or the Alfa Zeta 6...

...Or possibly the ISO Varedo (from certain angles) that was the work of thier chief stylist.

That aside, I suspect the true appeal of the SZ lies behind the wheel, where you don't have to look at the outside

These are my favourite Zagato's:

I think there is something 'sud-like' about it too.

i love the SZ, unconvinced by the RZ, and like some, find some Zagato designs a tad too "out there" for my personal taste, a little too French looking

but that's what makes the world go round eh, be boring if we all liked the same, and this would be the "Ford Mundane" club instead!

I could never own an SZ though, imagine a stonechipped headlamp effectively taking you off the road :?:

I love 'em - fantastic cars!

I've been lucky to drive quite a few as a friend garaged one at mine for a while and Jamie Porter used to import them - even allowing me to bring one back from Italy for him.

Probably the best handling road car I've ever driven but could have handled so much more power. I remember driving one that had had a 24 valve 3.2 litre engine installed and Supercharged which was VERY interesting!!

But Shrew's right - windscreens and front lights are impossible to find apparently.

You may indeed! I had forgotten about the DB4 Zagato (or whatever it was called), that does look nice.

Junior Zagato too. And Fulvia Zagato, especially ones rolling on Gotti rims!

Still prefer the Alfa Zeta 6 over the SZ though...

Hey Lauren,
Don't the lights remind you of this Zag? Another brute. 8-)
The Zeta doors look a bit 928 'sh me thinks.

No, it was one that had been built by Jamie Porter at the Alfa Workshop. Really quick car!

They certainly do - Aston Martin Zagato, another good example. Also agree about the shape of the doors (I guess if the Zeta had been a fastback it would have looked even more 928), but the telephone dial door handles were completely unique :D
