Well put Lou, things are changing rapidly in the UK in response to the COVID-19 virus and I guess that we need to have a new way of thinking in terms of what each of us can do to help stop the spread.

On a lighter note, you can’t catch it on CAF so don’t let the virus stop the chat..

Best wishes to all,
Richard.

Also. The Government advice Says nothing about staying out of the garage or messing with old cars. I Might actually be able to get on with Both the Sud and the Midget over the next 12 weeks.
Every cloud has a silver lining I guess

Definitely, I won’t feel so bad about being anti-social and spending the day fitting those parts I find so easy to buy.

Does anyone think we had the start of this around Christmas? I do.
Like you say Lou, I think it is a lot worse than we first thought. :?

Just had my last catch up and walk up a hill with my Paramedic mate. From the info coming from the Italians, which is going to help us greatly, it looks horrendous.

I thought it would be bad, but its very much so, esp if your over 60. When we get to the other side of this our world is going to be quite different.

I am in that group so just hoping I will get to see my mate on the other side. Try your best to avoid it and don't have an accident in your workshop as if it gets very bad

there may a shortage of help in the A&E. My chum is a very experienced so there is talk of moving them into the hospitals as they can save more lives there.

These are scary times and like looloo I wish you all the best of luck.

I wondered that too mate.
At the start of Feb I had a real nasty cold for a couple of weeks, high temp and gungy sore throat, caught it off my mate Jim as he had it when I went to help him fix his MG door lock. He'd just come back from holiday in Spain..

Trouble is there seems to be an all or nothing mentality, people are locking themselves away or carrying on as normal.
Local smaller shops are as before, people shopping without seemingly any changes.
Then whole industries going on lockdown, how some will survive I have no idea.

I have heard that a lot of medical people agree that one of the easiest places to catch the virus is fuel pumps, so gloves at all fill ups and I have some wipes in the car as well. I also plan to fill the tank each time to reduce the need to top up frequently.
I am not panicking, but we have to think carefully.
Be careful guys.

I’ve been using Nitrile gloves at fuel pumps and shopping trolleys for the last 6-8 weeks. Also Credit card keypads are also a big risk imagine how many people push those little buttons on the average day gloves are the way to go also if you receive a parcel don’t touch it without gloves for at least 48 hrs as the little bugger can survive on most surfaces for 1-2 days. I use a full rubber NATO respirator mask. It scares the “Scheisse” out of the locals but should keep me Safe
Also I only leave the house when absolutely essential. I Currently haven’t left the house since last Tuesday. I’ll only be shopping once a fortnight now to top up in fresh produce (if possible). I walk around the garden and mess around in the garage without worry as the problem is mixing with other people

I must say this is all very depressing. I have been working from home for the last week, only venturing out at the weekend for a few groceries and to pick up prescriptions for my mother. I wasn't very pleased about having to queue outside of the shops with a load of people who were not following the advice on distance, but other than that things weren't too bad.

Now it is all gone to rats - my regular doorstep milk delivery failed to materialise, presumably because too many people are trying to subscribe to the service, so we are out of milk, Amazon are suspending all "non-essential" deliveries, and I cannot sign up to a supermarket delivery service due to "unprecedented demand".

So that's just great. Now I have risk exposure by going out to the shops. I was hoping the system might have held out a little longer. I guess at this rate there will be riots and looting before long.

Stay safe if you can :(

Lauren

Things are escalating day by day now Lou, the panic buying seems to have subsided a little and the roads are certainly quieter, but I think there's another step or two imminent.
The 6 month MoT holiday/exemption points towards garages soon closing, that starts from Monday next week I think, trust me to get the Giulietta tested yesterday! But safety first, it passed too so no drama.
We've been issued with an official looking document today that permits travel, so expect there to be more spot checks to see why you're out and about..

Thing that most worries me was in the news today about that 21 year old Lass who died, apparently with no underlying health issues...Up to now it was assumed that if you were relatively young and fit enough you could survive the virus,,

I think a lot of younger people have been assuming that they will be OK and don't see what all the fuss is about.

I'm a lot more negative. Both myself and my mother have only recently recovered from respiratory illness, and I know if she catches COVID19 she will probably not survive. Maybe I won't either.

Oh well, at least I won't have to worry about the MoT expiring in May now. Not that there is anywhere to go of course. I can't even drive to the shops coz I have run out of cash for car parking :(

Hang on in there Lauren, things are looking grim but try and stay positive.
I appreciate it is hard when idiots around you don't take the advise seriously. Testing times.
All the best. x

Yep best to be as positive as you can when there is so much grim news about and its going to carry on for a while.

As for the foolish, I could not believe how many motorbikes went passed last Sunday, off to Wales. Just what the health services want is a few more casualties before we even start on the spreading of the virus.

Made me quite angry, not as bad as watching Trump, but not far off.
