Re: My Sprint Speciale
That was it.
The Sprint was picked up from Surrey yesterday morning. The car and her delivery truck got held up in Friday motorway traffic and the driver exceeded her permitted hours otherwise the Sprint would have been with me last night.
As a result the truck and the 'Sud spent last night in a secure compound near Leeds. At least the Sprint will be acclimatised to living in Yorkshire now after her overnight rest!

Re: My Sprint Speciale
More photos on the way when I get a minute Kev.
Strange (or maybe it isn't!) seeing how it's thirty-odd years since these cars were introduced that they attract so much attention.
Jo, the delivery driver, was telling me yesterday that she lost count of the number of trucks and cars that were taking photographs of the Sprint en-route to Yorkshire and blasting their horns and waving in appreciation.
Respect, eh?

Re: My Sprint Speciale
Apologies for not posting more pictures of the Sprint before now. I've been too busy enjoying myself driving her at every possible opportunity.
We're over-stocked on groceries. I've been to the supermarket on a sixty mile round trip a few too many times..... just for the sake of it!
Hell, they're good these little 'Suds

Re: My Sprint Speciale
Do it Kev.
I had fun in mine today. Played with an Audi A4 on the A1079.
Left him for dead on the roundabouts then let him catch up with me before I shot off onto the A15 slip road and home.
Should have seen the driver's face. Hee hee! He didn't have a clue what car I was driving or why he couldn't keep up with me.
Happy days!

Re: My Sprint Speciale
A lovely day here in Gods Own Country so I finally got round to giving the Sprint Speciale a bit of a wash and took several photographs for the Insurance Company's agreed value scheme.
I share them here with you. Enjoy:

Wow that is special(e)!
The front wings are well designed rust traps, so someone has cosseted that one, is it very low mileage?

Re: My Sprint Speciale
Update: The Speciale passed her MOT Test this week. Not a single advisory. Not bad for a car that's thirty-one years old!

Re: My Sprint Speciale
Thanks chaps. Yes good news all round. It's always a bit nerve-racking come MOT time so this was a pleasant surprise.
I had thought that I would get the usual MOT tester's reaction upon seeing an Alfasud of a sharp intake of breath followed by his laughing out loud but didn't, which was nice. He actually commented that the Speciale was in better condition than many cars coming in for their first MOT.
Respray and wheel refurbishment next. Watch this space.

Re: My Sprint Speciale
Yes. It most certainly is Kev.
The guy who carried out the MOT on the car was really quite enthusiastic. He said that he didn't often get the chance to test 'interesting' stuff and was I think quietly relieved to be looking at something away from the mainstream.
Makes a refreshing change.
It wasn't all plain sailing though. The guy couldn't get the windscreen wipers working so I had to show him how to operate the column stalks.
Oh, and I got a puncture on the way home from the test centre.
Character-builders these Alfas..... Anyone got a Pirelli P3000 that they don't want?

Re: My Sprint Speciale
Update:
The Speciale is now off the road ready and waiting for its refurbishment.
I'd meant to have had it all completed by now - or at least to have started - but to be honest I've spent too much time driving and enjoying ownership recently.
Now though the time has come.
Work will commence soon - hopefully next month but maybe earlier - and I can't wait.
