Re: Giulietta spider
The car is now all in colour and I have started to wet flat and polish it.
First it is all flatted using 1200 grade wet and dry, then 2000 grade before machine polishing up.
Here is the "out of the gun" painted car.

Nice mate, very nice.
I have door hanging frames like that, what do you do for mounting them? Doesn't look like you've hooked the bottom one on? I'm terrified that they will fall off without being fastened top and bottom!

Livin' on the edge mate
If you look close , there is a bit of rod pushing the bottom of the door out. I couldn't get the hooks in the bottom so the doors are just hanging from the top and pushed away at the bottom so I could paint all around the inside as you see it all.
The car has a small door trim card but no break line , so I couldn't paint in two goes (inside then mask off and spray just the outside). It was actually tricky to not hit the frame with the spray gun and get a nice even coat of paint.

Re: Giulietta spider
Noticed the little pin, looks to be sitting on the edge of where the card will fit? living on the edge indeed! I'd be scared of it bouncing off and putting an outward dent in the door skin!
Often thought about getting a flat piece of wood, maybe 3" x 6", and making a small indent that would fit to the end of the bottom pole then resting it against the inside of the door skin. Not a small enough area to create any issues, particularly as the weight is all on the top attachments.
Had the same issue with the Fulvia doors, needing to paint the whole of the under/sides/top of the doors in one hit. Saves a lot of masking faff too don't you think?

Re: Giulietta spider
Just a little update, I have flatted and machine polished up most of the car now, and just doing a few finishing touches prior to its collection this week. It will then head up to Gad at Four Leaf Clover Classics to be reassembled and completed.
Re: Giulietta spider
It's an unusual colour mate but a flawless finish as always

Cheers mate, the light in the workshop varies depending if the sun comes out.
Colour is Grigio Grafite.

Re: Giulietta spider
It actually looks monochrome until you see some flashes of colour in the background... looks fabulous
Re: Giulietta spider
Final update from me. Here is the car all finished and ready for collection.
Not the best of shots as it was getting dark.

Re: Giulietta spider
I'd hate to put that back together, it's too nice to risk scratching it!
Love to see the inside and floors done to that high standard mate, something people will most likely never see but we know

Re: Giulietta spider
I love the dash all part of the body. Bit of a pig to work on, but a lovely effect along with the door bodies.
The interior floor picked up a bit of dirt, but underneath looks really smart.
Hopefully Gad will put up some pics as the assembly gets under way with shiny bits added.
I have really enjoyed having the chance to do this car as it is not the sort of thing we would usually be asked to do.
I always seem to photograph Giulietta spiders at shows over the years so it was meant to be.

Fabulous job. Well done. Impressive finish.
Like Kev I would not like to put it all back together and can not work out which would be worse, for myself or someone else.

Re: Giulietta spider
Cheers guys, Gad sent me a few pics yesterday and they are cracking on with it as I type.
Re: Giulietta spider
Thanks Tim, that is Gad taking the photo and I think Alex . They have quite a tight deadline on the car so are now both flat out on it.
It has to be finished, complete for June.
I hoped to start it just before Christmas to give the guy's more time, but was unable to.

Re: Giulietta spider
Stunning looking car.
I'd love a Giulietta spider or a Sprint.
But shocking prices these days.
I'm in the Giulietta register, and there is access to the back issues of the Giuliettaletta.
In 2000 a running car was £8-10k
Inflation since then is approx 55%....so maybe £12-16k now
But asking prices are through the roof!....£30k and the rest
Maybe a bubble waiting to burst?....personally I hope so
Cheers
Dave

Re: Giulietta spider
Well a final few photos to close this thread.
Gad bought the Giulietta down last Wednesday for a final polish and was also asked by the owner to give me a trip out in it.
It was a lovely day and a nice finish to the project.
Car looks fantastic, and thanks to Gad and Alex for taking so much care putting her all back together so nicely.

Made in Italy but perfected in Northants.
Re: Giulietta spider
Thanks for the kind comments Tony, but I was only one bit of the project.
There was a mammoth amount of steel work replaced by Gad, plus with Alex, they put it together beautifully, and the trim is also beautiful.
Simon, the engine is quite punchy for a 1300 that is still running in. I didn't drive it hard just a country lane ride out, but had a fright first time I hit the brakes.
No servo or discs, just drums Plus I am not use to LHD.
I did enjoy it and never thought I would have the chance to work on one or drive one.
