quite agree Phil, well spotted.

i'm not sure if lauren knows of us yet with the green machine Nova, but certainly a Minari owning friend of mine Alec has joined, but a little too busy or too cold fingered to contribute yet!

Thanks JB - looking forward to making good use of this area, this is the first time I have come across an Alfa kit forum. I'm feeling like one of the gang already

when we discussed the site 6 months or more ago lauren an area for kits like yours was always going to happen, glad you're on board ;)

now, just get talking to those minari guys and you'll have your own area at last to discuss the kit stuff without it getting lost amongst the other boxer threads :D

a hearty welcome lauren, and hopefully you can kinda lead this little lounge along as you see fit too.

you shouldn't be alone for too long, a friend of mine, alec, a minari chap should be along soon too, but please feel free to grab who you can, and make it known that you can steer this however suits best.

we're all ears in the admin, so holla if you'd like to see something for the better, and we'll do what we can.

thanks again, and enjoy...

Thanks Shrew - I'm feeling right at home already... only strictly speaking, I shouldn't be in this lounge either, as the Green Machine is actually a custom chassis with an old Nova body on top. Not really a kit at all, in the accepted sense. But the Minari guys don't seem to mind, and you never know, we might get a visit from some S&J Milano owners (Alfetta-based), Raffo Tipo 12, Pelland/Kudos etc.

Looking forward to seeing what turns up!

Thanks again for the warm welcome, its much appreciated!

Always fancied a Minari kit when I had my Sud's but I've never had a garage so never happened. :(

Hi Gibot, thanks for posting. Although not strictly designed around the V6 engine, the S&J Milano was based on the Alfetta GTV engine and running gear, and I have seen one GTV6 version, back in 2009 at Spring Alfa Day. The owner had also grafted on the Alfetta GTV grille and lights, making the whole car more recognisably "Alfa" (the Milano was based on a 1978 Pinifarina styling exercise for the Jag XJS).

This is the one...

Milanos occasionally turn up for sale, and there was even a chance to pick up the S&J Sportiva last month on ebay (one of only 2 cars manufactured before the company went out of business).

More recently a company in Sweden has started producing an open Ferrari Mondiale replica based on the Alfetta GTV. Called the Pagano, I guess it too could be a home for a Busso V6...

I hope that answers your question!

I like both of those! and with Busso? YummY!!!!

I always really did like the idea of a well screwed together, refined and upholstered Hawk/Stratos married to a breathed on Busso, lovely use of two iconic pieces of automotive history in my opinion

The Last one is beautiful that really would be worth the effort. Very nice Thanks for your reply I knew nothing of the v6's apart from the stratos kit. :)

Whilst I like the hawk it didn't have a particularly good rep for over all handling think that new Sweedish mondalie kit is wow.
Alfa's answer to a cobra very nice.

Don't believe everything you hear. I think the Hawk got a bit of a bad rap after the Top Gear thing. The truth of the matter is, any car with such a ridiculously short wheelbase and an engine placed over the rear axle is going to be a handful. The original was, and the replicas are no different :D

Yes, I was quite impressed with the Pagano - I met the owner of the company at NAD in 2011, he had driven over from Sweden without any kind of weather protection - just a set of biker leathers and a full-face helmet!

And if you remember NAD in 2011, it was pretty wet!

The original Ferrari Mondiale had a 4-cylinder DOHC engine and a rear mounted transaxle, so the Alfetta running gear is very authentic.

Hi Lauren,
Have to say you have a mind full of interesting facts and knowledge, also love your photo's and taste in motors.
I also saw the little Mondiale that year. Didn't know what it was but I did like it.
Thanks.

Hi Keith - we aim to please!

For some reason I have always been interested in low volume production and kit cars. When you don't have shareholders (or the government) twittering about profits there is more scope to design something amazing!

Just briefly going back to the Hawk etc, are you all familar with the work of Mick Covill, Rally Legend Replica's?

His work building top spec replica's of the famous lancia models, from Beta's, Stratos, Delta Grale and S4, and even the 037 (gorgeous!) is 2nd to none

I went up there not long back to buy some wheels, see what was happening, and nearly came a way with a swiss 8v cat Integrale! lol!

a little info here, and loads more on facebook, his cars are superb!

Cool! I was wondering what Mick was up to these days. He sold on his Alfa V6 mid-engined Beta coupe to someone round here, as it turned up at a few local shows a year or so ago. I loved that Beta coupe, anyone would think it was a genuine rally car from the period. When I last talked to Mick he had just returned from a LOC run across the Alps to Italy, what a hoot that must have been!

I will have to check out RLR some more, a replica 037 would make a nice runabout... :D

I didnt know he'd sold his beta lauren, it sounded like he still had it talking to him, but i could have missed the details whilst drooling over other things!

Of which there was plenty! Lol!

Yes, an 037 with either gta power, or 20v turbo, would indeed make an average journey a whole lot more interesting!

Verrrry nice

A mate of mine called Dave from near Doncaster had a 16v minari that he used for track days - need to catch up with him but I think he sold it.

In turn a mate of Dave's called (I think) Steve also had a road going Minari. Steve lived not too far from me if I remember rightly .

A hawk stratos with a 3 litre v6 raced in the auto Italia series, that seemed to handle well.

And finally, about 2 or 3 weeks ago a yellow 'stratos' drove past my house. It was going slow but sounded like a 4 cylinder not a V6.

Even the 4-cylinder cars (Early Transformers and the Allora mostly) used the Lancia Beta twin-cam, a great engine in its own right. I did see a bright yellow Alfa V6 Stratos at MITCAR some years back. No reason for it to be the same car, but its amazing how a good (or bad) exhaust system can change the sound of the engine!

I ought to contact John Hammond and see if any of the Minari club fancy dropping by sometime. I think they have their own club site though...
