Re: 2 x Sud Ti on ebay
My worry with cars like this and the recent boom in modern classics is that they end up in the hands of someone who will fibreglass them up, give them a nice looking paint job and stick them back up at £10k to cash in. Rather than going to an enthusiast who will do or get it done properly.

Re: 2 x Sud Ti on ebay
Ouch.
Hopefully they get used to get a couple of others back on the road, or someone manages to properly restore one of them.
Be interesting to see if NGC 31Y or A547 GVT ever show back up on the road.

Re: My sud project
Yeah, quite a few cars rust around the screens. Both our Mk2 golf and bmw e30 need work in the bottom corners. My delta had spots in all four corners at the front. And yes, deltas are famous for rusting along the rear edge as there’s a section you can’t get to from the inside and they rot from the i...

Turn out of suds was incredible, was glad to be a part of it.
Don’t know that I’ve ever seen so many in one place, maybe at the Chris knott insurance Alfa championship meet when my mum used to take me to snetterton in the early 90s

Re: The end of Alfa as we know it
What’s happened in the btcc kind of echos what’s happening in the wider automotive world. Costs were spiralling so they brought in standardised components and sub assemblies so the cars all become pretty much the same just attached to a different body, but as you say the cars all look so similar it’...

Re: Front Suspension Arms
I’ve got some powerflex poly bushes to go on mine, I noticed the bushes looked pretty tired when I was under it doing the clutch. Be interested to see what they’re like and hope they don’t make it feel too stiff. My usual tactic is to solid mount, poly bush and coilovers anything I can, but I’m tryi...

Re: The end of Alfa as we know it
It is sad, but it seems to be the way all cars are going. There’s no room for flair and quirks any more. Take pretty much any 5 door family hatch from the last few years, cover the grille and badges and I bet 99% of people would have no idea what any of them were by looking at or driving them. While...

I pulled all the inlet off the throttle bodies last night only to then be able to see that they would have been east to get to from underneath
Rain stops play again so I’m off to hide in my shed and polish the spare front bumper which came with the sud.

Re: An introduction and my 1980 1.5 super
Yeah, just a generic one. It was actually off Amazon as I wanted it quickly and you’re never quite sure whether eBay ones are coming from the uk or China, but it was less than £10 Bracket was just fashioned from a couple of bits of aluminium angle section I had laying around, etch primed and sprayed...

Fuse box swap done, of course very easy to swap back to original if needed. Annoyed that I didn’t use a 10 way box to add the two fuses in the little black box beside the main board, but never mind. https://i.imgur.com/LmGtLzgh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/iNPicOTh.jpg Everything tested and working, and ...

Sadly rain stopped play the last couple of days, but crank sensor ( I believe there’s actually two on these ) will be my next step.
Just need to find where they are, no doubt buried somewhere annoyingly tricky to get to under the inlet or something.

Re: Mechanical help, non-Alfa, sticky injectors?
Good point about the crank sensors, I seem to remember them being a little fragile, probably because the s14 4pot is a fairly buzzy and not particularly smooth engine.

Mechanical help, non-Alfa, sticky injectors?
Calling in the collective experts on here, I’m having trouble getting my bmw e30 started. It has been sat for several years, but I’d like to get it moveable again. I’ve put in some fresh fuel, bypassed the fuel pump relay so the pumps are constantly running ( I couldn’t hear them while the engine wa...

Re: An introduction and my 1980 1.5 super
Might have to adjust the mileage allowance on my insurance, used it 4 out of 5 days commuting last week and another 60 miles today. Done 2500 miles in it since September despite barely using it over winter. For some reason if blew the indicator fuse the other day, luckily I had a spare in the car bu...

Re: An introduction and my 1980 1.5 super
Used it for the commute again today, 250 miles done this week in the sunshine. Anyone else constantly get people in modern cars pulling out in front of you? I’m assuming either because they misjudge the distance because it’s so small compared to modern stuff or because they assume it’s old so will b...

Re: An introduction and my 1980 1.5 super
Thank you, very useful. I wasn’t really sure how to set it up so just did it so it looked and felt right. I’d assumed by the size of the hanger bolt that the main hanger bush took the majority of the load. The old one was in a poor state with the weight on it but looked fine when removed. The rear b...

Re: An introduction and my 1980 1.5 super
Unfortunately it’s spent most of winter under a cover, getting the odd run whenever conditions allowed, I.e dry after a wet spell which had washed the salt away. It disgraced itself at work a few weeks ago when it didn’t want to start to go home, tracked it down to no / poor feed to the coil, so hot...

Re: Crankshaft rear seal
It seems my time spent fighting the clip and shredding my hands would have been better used doing more research on this forum! It really didn’t help that I couldn’t find my circlip plairs so had to modify some 90 degree needle nose ones. Decided it was never going to fit without fouling the bell hou...

Re: Crankshaft rear seal
No, I did just the gearbox, but when putting it back on didn’t realise the pin had popped out the end of the slave, so rather than wrestle the gearbox back off far enough to realign it I popped off the circlip to slide the slave back not realising what a battle it would be to get back on. Like many ...

Re: Crankshaft rear seal
I’ve had a ‘fun’ weekend doing the clutch, turns out the seals are fine, the oil I could see is dribbling from elsewhere. Still think it would be hand to have some bits spare in case there’s a next time. Annoyingly there’s nothing obviously wrong with the clutch I took out, maybe the springs in the ...

Crankshaft rear seal
Does anyone have, or can anyone easily find out a part number for the rear crankshaft seal (transmission end ) for an alfasud? It’s a 1980 late s2 with 1500 single carb engine. Pretty sure my clutch issue is due to oil contamination, I’ve got a clutch on the way, have a spare gearbox if it’s the gea...

Haha, yep, never a fun job.
I usually find swearing at it, giving up and going back to it the next day helps it slide on a lot easier.
Thanks for the help.
