Re: my new purchase

My memory must be even worse than I thought. Can't remember them being sold in the UK, but as a fan of Italian cars I must have been aware of it at the time, especially as I have owned two 155's and new they were more or less the same. A friend once bought a Lancia Gamma that had been brought over f...

I bought a split screen camper van once as it was cheep and I thought it might come in useful when I was still single and living at home. You forgot to mention the challenge of driving on the motorway in a crosswind. The combination of slab sides, engine behind the rear wheels, swing axles, bouncy f...

When I first bought my sud back in the seventies it was quite normal to get the windscreen so covered in bugs that you had to regularly use the windscreen washers to clear the screen. Never seems to happen these days ?

I had two 1.8 16v 155's and miss them both. Even if they were based on the Fiat Tipo and more Fiat than Alfa, they were still fun cars.

Re: Been a bit quiet lately

Having retired recently I can't say all this covid business has had much affect on me, and as long as I don't catch it, I am quite happy plodding on with my cars which have been waiting patiently for years, until I had the time to fix them. After spending the summer repairing the 75 and getting the ...

Sorry, only just spotted your question AlfaDave. Thats my typo, its a 1977 car not 1972. I think that only the first four door four speed cars were available in 1972.

Well diesel is not a rust eater but makes a good releasing fluid with the advantage that it does not evaporate.

Re: Kev's workshop projects

Yes I have some light scars from using an angle grinder with a wire brush after it snagged on something. could have been much worse as I was under the Sprint in a confined space, not having a welder powerful enough to make a rotating frame. Scared me so much that I haven't been under the car with an...

I have been making use of the good weather and progressing towards getting the dash back in. The grotty corner on the drivers side is now finished. It was difficult to get the welding torch in at a good angle while lying on my side and so the welding is not brilliant. When I removed the blower fan f...

Re: Sprint Rear Quater Structure Pictures

Are these pictures any help? As you can see its all 'work in progress' at the moment. The outer panel should fold over the inner wing, although this double skin may be stronger it makes corrosion inevitable. So as you can see I have welded the inner wing short of the rim of the wheel arch. There nee...

My 1989 Sprint Veloce has the Zender kit. Mine was attached along the top with VW Beetle side trim fixings which are hidden beneath an insert strip that just pulls off. Under the car there were just self tapping bolts screwed into the floorpan. The wheel arch covers had three small self tappers each...

The ticking speedo needle problem was common on the early cars. My car has been doing it off and on for nearly 100,000 miles. Curiously, it only does it occasionally.

But didn't they drop the "Milano" from the badge on the Sud as it was made in Naples. so a more modern 'Milano' free badge may not be so attractive but more appropriate.

I have plenty of photos but can't work out how to post more than one at a time and some photos will only post upside down, even if I invert them before posting.
Anyway, I still have this nasty bit of rot where the bonnet hinge attaches, to repair.
