Re: Race Retro 2023
Talking to Rob last night and it seems to be a common complaint, loads of people moaning about the lack of exhibits etc. That's a real shame to hear about it from you guys, we've not been for a few years and did consider going but glad we didn't now. It was a good show last time we went, big indoor ...

A virtually identical list of bits taken too!
Although I didn't send the realy brackets, and I'm sure I've got some stickers for the slam panel in the unit, so spooky how similar!
Although we've both spoke of the plans though haven't we

Re: Race Retro 2023
That's a shame Tim, wonder why so few stalls and stuff? Anything else on this weekend? Last time we went the auto jumble was quite decent, all under cover and plenty of decent stalls, not just traders selling new tools but loads of genuine auto jumble type stuff. Unless more are turning up over the ...

Re: My 916 Spider
Our parallel projects are remarkable for at similar stages Lou, I too called in at my powder coaters who have my subframe and assorted other bits just yesterday, they haven't yet done mine either despite having them since early January. Promised they're now in the front of the queue for the big pile...

Re: Brake compensator rubber bands
From memory they're not that big, about the size of a Goose egg? The compensator can't be pushed in, don't fret! I believe they work by restricting how far the plunger is allowed to come out when the peddle is pressed, hence the arm attched which alters the tension on it when the load reduces as in ...

Were the boxer 145's the same as the TS 145's suspension wise?
They used a different subframe I recall, not sure if the struts were like the TS ones or a 33 type item, like the steering rack?
Unless I'm remembering it all wrong...woldn't be the first time!

Does it speak English ? It did come with a checklist for the Thema, which is allin Italian so not a lot of use to me! :D Didn't help that I only got a quick chance to try it, not that it looks a quick process, but the ECU for the ABS isn't under the back seat as suggested. Can only be behind ...

I hope it helps me find the issue too :D Instruction literature I bought a bit back for checking the ABS system in the hope it would help with fault finding just pointed towards using this machine and going through a series of checks in a mthodical manner, rather than the modern way of plugging in a...

This arrived today, finally. Actually bought it at the end of January from a guy in Italy but it's taken until now to arrive with one thing and another.
Should help me find out the issue with the ABS on the Dedra, well that's the plan!

How to make yourself feel old  Lad at work, Glenn I'm always trying to educate on the joys of music he's never heard of, him being in, his 20s and all that. The Chemical Brothers tune "hey boy, hey girl" came on the radio so I cranked it up and asked him if he liked it, a classic dance tune l...

Oil filter rings won't be stretchy enough, and too long. Something like these should do, from memory they're not that big https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144388669434?hash=item219e3c3ffa:g:mqAAAOSwCOJh870I&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8LhksF41TaKbQDtfJUJDwBaE0cTLilgV1JIDLG8BLsNUkwd3E4onZG3sHsiebQpqm2KmIHWuM0S1iO...

A thing of beauty, I'd love one too. As Kieth though, I don't really know what I'd do with one, but would love to have one..
One day when I get the unit ship shape I ought to get one, a proper well built old school one like that rather than a modern one that would fall apart in a few months.

Somebody ought to need this, surely? Even if it only gets chopped up for repair sections that's better than being crushed. I'm in the same boat as you Lou, not enough space to have everything. Resisted buying a Y10 turbo for the same reason. The windscreen is worth having if nothing else, assuming i...

Also this week I finally got the retrimmed Dedra seats back, about 18 months after sending them in! They needed doing though, used replacement sets are as hard as Sud ones to find. Engine now out of the Flaminia on my engine stand, a few quick adapter brackets made out of leftover box section that had served as Sud frame cover back home then Y10 bracing, recycling at its best! :D I'll make a start on it once the GTV is finished or if parts for it stall. Some lovely engineering...

Re: Seat fabrics
Having just finished on a big, and expensive retrim on my Dedra seats the one thing I would say is first ask for samples to be sent. I originally only planned on doing my front seats but the new material was too far away a match. So my advice before ordering any big amounts is to ask for a small sam...

Cars don't have to be lardy... This morning, 5 door hatch, ac, central locking, alloys, seating for 5 still. OK its smaller, but not that cramped. Same build year as the lard Audi But almost 1/3 the weight! No wonder it's 50+ mpg. This is the way rather than deferred emissions of the battery powered...

In typical Lancia fashion, and why they continued to go bust, the throttle cable is way over engineered. Guessing due to the rhd set up? Cable runs around a pulley then back to the linkage whereas on a lhd car it'd be a direct line, why they didn't just use a longer cable and loop around I don't kno...

Whilst I'm waiting for the GTV parts to come back from the powder coaters I've decided to have a look at the Flaminia engine, or more accurately see why it's seized.. Some close ups of the micro blisters in the paint which spoil it, as Ade says it's a good 10 yard car. My own views is that if it's as solid as mentioned (no reason to doubt the word of the man 8-)) then it's an ideal car to start with that could be made into a real nice car for shows or just tidy i...
