S2 1980 4door Sud Super
Hi all Trying to decide which way to go with this car. It hasn't been on the road in about 20yrs and has only done about 25000 miles from new with some MOT history to support this. It's had one owner from new until early last year. It was sold to a friend who planned to get it going again. That didn...

Engine and suspension colours
Doing a bit of refurbishment.
What colour is an engine block as standard.
I assume that suspension is satin black?
Any guidance appreciated

Been there and done that.
I tend to use the tip Kev suggested a while ago. Using sockets extensions and a bolt to brace off the alternator mounting and wind it into place.

Re: SPRINT RESURRECTION
When the 33 was first painted we went with white door frames an B post it made the car look quite boxy. I then decided to do the glass edging and B post satin black and it transformed the look making it longer and sleeker. Personally I would blackout everything around the B post to make it look like...

GAZ built me some struts for the rallycar. They just need some donor struts for the steering arms and the mounting plates.
I know at some point on the S3 they went from 4 point fixing to 3 on the strut top.

Unfortunately the only way I've found to tell for sure is to check what is stamped on the crownwheel. I appreciate your looking though.

Re: Alfa 33 1400 16V Rallycar
That's. One way of putting it. It just seems it's one thing after another for the last few years. Gearbox and diff were both built to handle a lot more power so it's a bit of a mystery. Perhaps it's shock loads because I was chucking it about quite a lot and there were a few surface changes. Rsfruit...

Re: Alfa 33 1400 16V Rallycar
Hi all Thought it was time for an update. Quick recap. 1400 is buggered, bottom end is scrap, heads and cams salvageable. So if I am going to start from scratch with a bottom end I started looking at different options. I still want to stay with the 1400cc. Initially I was looking to go big bore and ...

Head gasket installation
Hi everyone
With the modern head gaskets they tend to come with some beads of sealant in strategic positions. My question is If the sealant is only on one side should the sealant be against the head of against the block.
My guess is sealant against the head???

Re: Flywheel bolts
Just spent another he trying to figure out what is going on. Still not sure. I am speculating that they have done the starting tap in all holes but not in others. Re: Flywheel bolts
Thanks.
My problem is that some bolts are bottoming out even though the drilling is plenty deep enough. I assume they just haven't tapped far enough.
Worst case I'll take a mm of each bolt.

1350 block
Hi all
Trying to track down a 1350 block (80mms bore).
Not too concerned if it's worn as it will be either bored out of sleeved down.
Don't really want to break a complete engine but would if reqd.
PM me if you have anything with a location and price.

Re: Alfasud Trofeo Sump
A simple modification I have used for yrs is to well a horseshoe shaped piece of metal vertically from the existing battle plate to about 6mm above the sump base. This ensures any oil being fed back to the sump ends up around the pickup. It also reduces oil surge.

Re: Alfa 33 1400 16V Rallycar
Hi all Well I have investigated further and it's buggered. Theory is that no4 big end has picked up. This has then seized and the big end bolts have snapped. The con rod has then got bashed around and took out the bottom of the bore into the water gallery and the piston skirt. Haven't took the head ...
