Lou, looks like an up and coming minter!
Are there any regular rust traps on the Spiders?
I need to know for when I buy one!
They still seem to go for bargain prices

Very good tips Lou.
Just a little other thought is to check the 4 pipes from the carbs to the oil filler tube. Any splits can pull air.

Sorry to go off subject,
But TT Tools in Essex will redrill for £75 per wheel.
Looks a bit iffy to me, and I can buy new minilite lookalikes for £300

Non return valves
With a mechanical fuel pump on the sud, the fuel drains back to the tank after a while, and can make starting difficult at this time of year. I did fit a non return valve near the tank, but it failed shut! Probably because it was cheap on Ebay. I would like to fit a decent quality 8mm one. Any sugge...

Tyres
I'll be looking for a set of tyres soon for my Rochdale Olympic. Probably 165/ 70/ 14. Or maybe 175. Won't be doing mega miles. I've always avoided Chinese made tyres, but I read on line that their quality is much improved, and some of the big name tyres are actually made there. I wondered what expe...

Re: RAC rally 2023
I'm after a set of 14" x5.5J Minilite wheels, but with 4" PCD to suit BMC hubs.
I did wonder if its possible to redrill the wheels or use adaptors to convert to 4" (101.6mm) PCD

Re: Welding to sills
Got out and under, and cleaned up one sill.
The bottom flange looked flaky, but after removing some weld and seam sealer looked better.
Pics to follow.
Welding was done by RBS welding in Manchester.

Re: Welding to sills
Thanks Keith,
I remember seeing the innards when the welder repaired the sills for me.
Just the bottom flange seems flaky now, but I need to get under and clean it all up.
I wonder why they made the inner with holes rather than a solid piece? Might last longer if solid!

Re: Welding to sills
Thanks Lou,
I''ll give it a good clean up and have a look. But most of the floor and outer sill looks good. Just the vertical seam is flakey.
I understand what you say about the spot weld . But I'm not trying to re create the original here. Just get my runabout up to MoT standard!

Welding to sills
The sills on my Sud were repaired a few years ago.
But I now see that the bottom flanges are looking raggy in places
Is it ok to cut these off, and then repair with a flat plate under?
