Re: My 916 Spider

Thanks Dave. Tbh the 916 series cars seem to be ageing very well. That said the biggest areas are rear ends of the sills and rear arches obviously there isn’t much metal work at the front but inner wings around the strut top Mount are worth looking at aswell as the floor to sill seam. Doors don’t se...

Re: My 916 Spider

2023/4 Winter hibernation work on the spider. New radiator along with a freshly powder coated fan shroud. And I’ve managed to get all the old sclonge out of the header tank. IMG_1570.jpeg IMG_1562.jpeg IMG_1565.jpeg I also took the opportunity to remove and inspect the fuel pump / sender unit out of...

Re: Sud front wing

Hi Junior. I’m pretty sure the Twin cam oil cap won’t fit your beta. The Nord cap just has two little external tangs that engage and run around the outside of the casting on the rocker cover. Whereas the Beta cap has a steel finger arrangement that engages and runs around the inside of the cam cover...

Re: Sud front wing

Hi Junior. Is it a new or SH. I’m just after a genuine Alfa wing preferably rust free I’ve got a few spare new wings but they’re pattern and I’d rather fit a genuine panel if I can find one.
Many thanks

Re: Engine won't idle

Hi Chris. Your Compresion figures sound fine so The first thing to do is to check for major manifold leaks. That means the gaskets under carbs aswell as the manifold to head gaskets. Check this by squirting some carb cleaner in the area whilst holding the engine revs to avoid stalling. If you get no...

Wow thats a chunk of change. And that doesn’t take in to account if you have issues and don’t come away with the car in the same shape as you started. But I have to say God it looks like fun. Rallying as it should be.

Dave. These are 6x14 with 4x 98 pcd. I imagine a specialist wheel company may be able to re drill them and fit tapered inserts for the nuts btw mine are genuine Minilites not copies

Re: Welding to sills

The holes were added in an attempt remove some weight from the inner sill panel. Without weakening it look inside an old adroplane and you’ll see loads of structural members full of “Dimple Died” holes. The dimpled edge to the holes again adds strength

Re: Welding to sills

Dave. Be careful the sill sections add critical structural integrity of the shell. The reason they use a vertical seam to join the outer sill to the floor section as mainly due to the need to spot weld that seam during manufacturing process. Whilst the majority of the strength is in the sill section...

Re: My 84 Sud Ti Project

Hi Keith. Yes progress in the shell has been a little slow. But m still picking up bits and pieces when I can. It bugged me that I didn’t have a spare set of keys. I know I could have got generic spares cut. Call me a stickler for detail but I wanted genuine Alfa keys. Ive got a NOS ign switch aswell.

Re: My 84 Sud Ti Project

Hi Dave. Yes they could but these new lamps are the earlier style. ( late S2 early S3 ) My original lamps used the plastic housings with pop in lamp units. ( I even got the clips off John). These new lamps won’t fit in to the later plastic housings as they don’t “pop in” so im looking at making some...

I may be able to use my original plastic “pop in lamps” mtgs to get the moulds made. It’ll just take a bit of fibreglass engineering to get them right.

Re: My 84 Sud Ti Project

Hi Ade. No I need a pair of the plastic frames I am in touch with Bob wright and he says he can make them if I can get a pair to him to make moulds from. I’ve left a “wanted” in the parts wanted but so far no nibbles
