Re: AROC Class B Alfasuds (Where are they now?)
I took my car to the body shop yesterday for a nearside rear arch repair to be followed by a full respray.
After that it will be a decent exhaust (anyone heard from Shrew lately??), a rolling road carb and ignition set-up (it's on megajolt), suspension alignment and off we go!

Re: AROC Class B Alfasuds (Where are they now?)
Yes, my car is an ex. AROC racer, which was piloted by Gavin Powell. Here is some in-car footage 1992 maybe - anybody recognise themselves or other combatants? The car was also featured in Car and Car Conversations magazine as one of the contestants in the 1993 converted car of the year challenge. h...

Re: Getting on with it..
That's a lovely clean car Lib.
Mine is virtually the same spec. and is off to be painted (Black) on March 10th.
If it comes out anywhere near as good as yours I'll be a very happy person.

Re: back seat anyone? :)
Hello Lib,
I have a ti pattern green cloverleaf base and a bog standard Alfasud base and back.
I'm next in my garage at the weekend so If you don't get anything sorted in the meantime I will send some photos through.
I've got various S3 trim interior trim bits as well if needed.
Thanks,
Adam

Re: Fuel tank restoration.
Funnily enough I traced some persistent bad running to my crudded up tank at the weekend. I checked previous threads and found the ATP listing on eBay and was similarly disappointed at the hike in the price - the alfa tank is now the most expensive they list. I’ll be cleaning out the tank myself nex...

Re: 33 Strut and Sud Insert
This is the process I followed fitting Konis to Alfa 33 struts although I think it took a bit of persuasion to withdraw the guts of the old damper than shown here. Patience, the right tools, particularly a big vice makes all the difference.

Re: Wheel conundrum
This is an extract of a widely available database that shows 15x7 wheels in weight order - low to high. The really lightweight ones tend to be expensive Japanese forged items however you can find commonly available wheels such as OZ Ultraleggeras and Rotas that are less than 8kg in the list. Name / ...

Re: Wheel conundrum
Hello Gary I have a few side shots on my p.c. and I'll post them tomorrow. I think they look s little large in comparison to the dainty styling on a sud but tyres are much much cheaper than 14" inch diameter wheels. Having said that I'm using 14" for track and 15" for showing off on the road. Thanks...

Re: Driveshafts
Well I've just checked and there is less than 3mm clearance so neither a k- nut or plain half nut will fit on the driveshaft bolt end without fouling between the inside face of the output flange and the bolt heads on the gearbox casing. This is on a gearbox with outboard brakes. It's probably why I ...

K- nuts are available in m8 x 1.0 e.g. http://k-nuts.com/index.php/products/metric-k-nut-ecrou-aviation-metrique/m8x100-hexagonal/ but I haven't checked if there is clearance yet. The driveshaft bolts are 12.9 grade, which a higher tensile grade than most of the other bolts used in the drivetrain wh...

Re: Driveshafts
I had this happen to me on a track day Dave, luckily on the entry to the pit-lane. Since then I thoroughly clean/degrease the bolts and the threads in the gearbox flange and use stud lock on the bolts. It's a bit of a challenge to get the bolts out again but it's worth grubbing around on the garage ...

It was a pleasure to meet both Bryan and Shrew today and despite the disappointment in the race they gave up loads of time to talk with myself and my son Lewis and give us good look around this magnificently presented car. There is no question about it; the BLS 33 was the best sounding car out there...

Re: Castle Combe 16th/17th July
Hello Bryan I'll be there on Saturday with my son and would love to have a look around your 33 for a bit of inspiration if it is not intruding. I first took my boy in my long departed Sud to spectate at Castle Combe in 1990 when there were probably 25 - 30 Suds and 33s in the AROC class F race. The ...

All the best with this Kev, it amazes me how you can take on a challenge that would have less talented people like me looking to weigh the car in. Here's something to aim for, KGF have one alongside their £15k Sud 1.3 Ti, so a good one must be worth at least half what they are listing for http://www...

I have a Sud one on my 16v engine and there are definitely differences in the layout and angles of the connectors compared to the 33 one as you describe.
I still have my 33 one and I'll take some photos when I get home from work tomorrow.
thanks

Re: Engine rebuild
Thanks for the feedback chaps,
There are no issues with the crank as far as I know so I'll get the engine stripped and get cylinder 3 checked over in the first instance.
