Re: Rear Suspension Foam Washers

They are pretty useless really. But in my younger more reckless days they used to stop metal to metal contact due to the soft bushes when cornering hard. The Watts parallelogram make the arms twist at weird angles rather than just up and down and back to front. Now I don't screw it round corners as ...

Rear Suspension Foam Washers

Do any of you know the thickness and size of the foam washers that should be fitted next to the suspension bushes on the rear of an Alfasud?

I want to make some.

Thanks

Sud front suspension overhaul

Even though the Sud has just passed it's MOT without any advisories, as part of the continuous maintenance regime on my Sud (it's like the Forth Bridge) I have decided that as it is about 8 years since I last changed the front struts and suspension bushes this will be my focus at the end of the summ...

Re: bumperless

Or, isn't Ebay great!

Would you believe they supplied and delivered that brand new pair of brake calipers (etc etc) in that huge box all the way from Peru for a tenner!

I wonder how do they make any money?

It's probably organised gangs using the supply of car parts to launder money!

Re: It begins...

The bodywork restoration moves on apace. As we saw earlier, there were some pretty hideous previous 'repairs' to the rear section of the roof discovered when the car was taken down to bare metal. Alfa Sud 38.jpg At first, it was decided that a full-width contoured steel panel could be fabricated by...

Re: ATE/Alfasud inboard front calipers - help needed

I do recall asking BLS Tom about the Alfetta rear caliper and Sud caliper some years back as they looked identical to me but he reckons there was a subtle difference between the two but couldn't recall exactly what....so that's no help at all I know! I love either wine or beer on a Friday night! Do...

Re: 2.0 Twin Spark engine/gearbox into a Sud ?

I hear what you're saying, but i dont think the gains are worth the engineering personally. The twin spark claims around 150bhp, whereas the 16v boxer claims around 135bhp but can drop straight in, and retains the handling characteristics of the low centre of gravity afforded by boxer engines. To m...

Re: Ignition timing with unleaded

I always buy my fuel from a garage with a high turnover of fuel so it is fresh. When I had my boat I used to spend a fortune on fuel additives and stabilisers. It was a rule of thumb in the boating fraternity that unleaded fuel would lose about 1 RON per week. It helped that the boat had an American...

The Tesco 99ron in particular has been proven very inconsistent by the performance japanese chaps, particularly the Subaru guys usi...
