Re: Twin carbs

Rolling road is the place to go, worth the cost overall. All my engines have purposely run just slightly lean, set up that way on the rollers for torque and power. A stumble on sub 3k revs could be too rich. Appreciate non of mine have been Road use so different circumstances. Just as an extra, are...

Fantastic. That feels so good when you get there. :D

The Lancia one we found last year was so pleasing i still run it around my head some days.

Well done for persisting. Its hard looking for the right man.

K an L autos built my engine and its still running very well after a few years. Starts easily after winter and has plenty of go.

Good luck.

Re: Sprint Veloce at Mathewsons

Amazing it has ended up so rusty despite such few miles. Still its all there. I wonder what the story behind that is. The Lancia coupe made good money as well. most surprised at that. Some of the cars are perfectly usable, sensible, have a bit of fun with and not spend vast sums. A lot of the curren...

I found my distributor would not advance when the magnet was put in upside down so it may have a big influence in your cam sensor. Good luck.

I fitted a bias valve then it leaked so took it out and have never noticed any difference.

Could you get your old one restored as there are people redoing master cylinders.

If we took the same view as Sud and examples such as Citroen Ax when the aim was to get good mpg and low service costs. Then applied it to to a modern car with all the advances they could be fantastic and be almost as green as a hybrid. The world seems to be nuts and I have been talking to friends a...

Looking at how straight it seems to be is in not worth fixing the valve and selling it as it is ?

That would be my way of going about it, but i am not as mechanical as many of you. :D

Trying to make up some round headlights back plates for the Monte Carlo. Anyone used any particular material, Nylon, pespex ? The square headlights are poor even before they are the wrong sided so this will hopefully make the car more usable. The fuel gauge keeps improving its self by each time it g...

I have had the same with a cycle frame and forks from Holland. Frame had a crack so was replaced under the warranty, but then the duty was £150 notes and the last few bits I need are so small no one wants to post them . Sigh.

Been trying to finish the cycle for three years. Maddening.

Hope it comes back from the body shop looking great. That would be nice for you after all the hassle from a lousy driver. I backed into a Intergrale recently and it was most embarrassing to walk into the workshop and admit it. Glad i did though and got lucky as hit the tougher part of the Lancia wit...

That's brilliant. Any downside to the conversion. Was talking to a chap today who tries to save old cars and he sold a BMW 8 times as it kept coming back to him. The last time he bumped into it at the scrap yard, bought it back home and took it for an MOT to see what it needed. It passed once they r...

Thank you for that. I wanted to make sure I had a bit more idea of what it was before I do anything with it.

I wonder if it went to the single carb mine had on at one time when it was running a turbo. Thanks again. :D

What the heck is this...Arbarth.......

Hi.

I have looked at this a few times and finally cleaned it up to find the word Arbarth on it.

But what is it ? Did it fit on a car carb to the filter. Came with the Sud and has obviously been raced.

Thanks in advance.

Just about to go on a run with the Sud, but very relaxed early morning went wrong as I thought i would just check the rear tyre for pressure. Instead of normal foot pump my little compressor was out so fired it up and shoved so air in. I could hear the leak over the noise of the compressor and the g...

Have you considered a dry sump system?

I wondered if any boxer race cars have ever had one fitted?
Yes, mine was dry sump, I think partly for getting the car so low to the ground. Once the exhaust went through the car the next lowest thing was the sump from my viewing under the car.

Re: Another one coming back from dormancy

Well the Montecarlo is settling in quite well. The gear change has improved and the handling as well. The gear change improvement was due to replacing a damaged flexible short hose to the slave cylinder. It had quite deep rub marks and so either it had internal damage or was balloning and not liftin...

I do not think it will matter. The next people who will own your car will come from a different angle and the great concours fascists who have made people uncomfortable over the years may well be a thing of the past. Your mods may enhance rather than take away from the car. I occasionally get a hint...
