Have you found someone who can do the re bore?
my local engine shop said they could only do an in line four, due to their equipment.
I eventually found a retired guy who did it in his shed!

Is your 'old engine' complete with cylinder heads, or do you just have the block?

Mazda 2 is 10 years old.
But what is the difference between diesel engine oil.......and petrol engine oil?
Maybe just a marketing tactic?

Engine Oil
My neighbour gave me 2 litres of Halfords Fully Synthetic engine oil. 5W/40.
But it says diesel oil on the bottle.
I wondered what the difference was between that and petrol engine oil.
Its maybe a bit thin for the Sud, but perhaps ok for my wifes Mazda 2 1.3 petrol?

I'm thinking I should sell my Alfasud. Its not used often enough, and has to sit outside all year. Which of course doesn't help the bodywork. But quite solid structurally. Still quite reliable, and has an MoT until October. I've no idea how much its worth though......prices seem to quite high, due t...

Lou,
should last more than a few years!
I presume you have to check the tracking after a front end rebuild.
Seems there are DIY laser tracking kits available for reasonable money......or do you go to a tyre place?

Thanks both.
I'm guilty of reading Haynes. P23 section 15. Para 1.
" The camshaft housing with the camshaft installed can be removed from the cylinder head with the head still attached to the crankcase".

Re: Valve stem oil seals
Lou, I had thought of removing the camshaft housing and camshaft together. Then removing the buckets. Leave the head bolts intact. Then figure out what tool I need to compress the springs. Quite a job, but not as bad as head removal? Also maybe remove the exhaust manifold, and see which cylinder is ...
