Re: My old sprint

Not for eBay. I’ve carted that thing round the U.K. with insufficient skill to get it properly sorted. I’ve paid thousands to have a new motor put in it as the 33 motor it has when I got it was wrecked and had the gearbox rebuilt. It doesn’t work yet but frankly I’ll be damned if it’s going to some ...

Re: My old sprint

Here are photos of it. When I say dismantled it’s all there, I just think it will all need to come apart. I dropped the engine to rescue the bulkhead which is now sound and the engine is back in and I’m reattaching the plumbing. I just think it will need a rebuild. For the avoidance of doubt it’s fr...

My old sprint

After having a brush with the C word, which was hopefully caught early I’ve changed course a bit so if it happens again I don’t saddle my loved ones with stuff and I’m spending more time with the kids. To this end the old Alfasud sprint hill climber which was half disassembled (badly) by me needs to...

Roger Evans

Slightly off Alfasud albeit I still have my sprint. Sorry I can’t remember if I have asked this before. I’d love to find out out if Roger Evans can build me a special V6 for a Stratos rep that’s arriving in the future - I can wait 18 months - but I can’t even see a website for Peak Alfa and I live a...

I’ve got the race car set up with the button. I take the battery master out and just in case I’ve a second switch if I was ever leaving it for a long time.

The WD40 strips the oil off - PTFE is about the only useful thing you can buy in Homebase these days since they stopped selling mars bars.

Re: Tail mounting - later 33 based cars

As my car is still stuck in the air I might take mine off to measure. I saw some ones off a Scania Truck sway bar that looked about the same size and shape were £7 and should be a smidgen firmer but of course no idea if they would fit.

Re: Tail mounting - later 33 based cars

I haven’t had them out on mine so I don’t know how squidgy the standard ones are. I’ll be driving mine on the road so solid bushes might be a bit much. I wonder if there is a half way house that fits in the trillion bushes out there.

Tail mounting - later 33 based cars

My sprint is late 83 and has what I think is a later pressed steel tail at the end of the gearbox which appears a bit floppy and a floppy bit of rubber through which a tail mounting (bar/pipe?) passes through and is bolted to the floor. I only have a Haynes manual up to 84 which shows the tail mount...

It’s a lot more relevant to my life than Emin. It’s also probably a lot better than Alfa managed first time round.

One of my other hobbies is collecting contemporary art from the St Ives and Newlyn schools - Jesus it’s like an artists studio there. I’ve been putting my motor back in today and I’m ashamed of my working environment in comparison.

I’ve just looked. They’ve got loads of good things. I’ve never owned one (except a Caterham which is mostly Ali) but I’m a big fan of small glass coupes.

A former colleague collects Clans for classic rallying but I get the impression from him they are harder to maintain than I dream of.

Re: Alfasud SC five door on eBay

TI’s and the “top dog” models of all 70s classics have sky rocketed. I think vendors of plainer cars hope the values of their cars, particularly in stronger colours like this are pulled up with them. Do you have a Rochdale Olympic? I’ve never seen one in real life. I used to love reading Malcolm Mac...

Yep there is not a lot of room to work with to see what’s going on. If I recall correctly the coil is with the engine and not up front. I was never wholly convinced a fuel tank in the engine bay was a great idea. If I get one again I’m having both a plumbed in extinguisher and a camera mounted in th...
