Re: An odd one

I'm sure I've seen that one advertised somewhere before (possibly not in the UK) - the state of those rear seats looks very familiar.

Re: Bunch of stuff on Ebay

I've sold a couple of bits and added a few more, so I've reorganized the list a bit: GTV-6 / 75 2.5 12v stuff: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293270799424 2.5 12v Busso block- great condition, but liners are rusty https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293270806758 2.5 12v Busso pistons- really good condition https...

Wow, there's a pretty thing :)

Wouldn't have thought spending most of it's life on the Isle of Wight (i.e. never more than 5 miles from salt water spray) would have done terribly much for it's rust resistance though...

Since I've now completed my Busso bottom end rebuiild and have a bunch of leftover parts, I've stuck them on Ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293222519210 gtv6 2.5 short block https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293203391840 Alfa 164 loom - untested but all appears to be intact https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293...

Indeed you only have to look at the Escort scene. How many complete piles of scrap (literally) but it’s got a V5 so its got to be worth 5-7k even more if it’s an RS or anything Avo. Worlds gone mad I tell you Blimey, that really is insane, go back to the late 80s and you could have picked up 40-45 ...

Re: How much !!!

Indeed it does, I still remember a short-lived Mercedes 190 classic price bubble shortly after the Cosworth was 'discovered' where the world and his dog reckoned every bog-standard 2.0 190e was worth over £4000, the market became flooded with overpriced, under-specced cars and the prices crashed so ...

Yes a Rochdale Olympic.....but a Phase 1 with the aerodynamic underside. The Phase 2 I'm working on was opened up underneath to allow engine/gearbox/prop/axle to be dropped out. The Phase 1 is therefore stiffer, and handles better.....not bad for an early 60's design. Yeah, I can imagine, must be s...

Fibreglass monocoque so it's got to be a Lotus or Rochdale by the shape... Changed my mind, Rochdale Olympic? Doesn't look like the most sensible way to roll a delicate fibreglass structure to me.

BTW I loved the Gilburn Invader higher up the page, always fancied one of those :)

Didn't sell so presumably didn't reach the reserve. Wonder why people put cars on Ebay with a reserve? Buyers always expect the reserve to be unrealistically high so don't bid, whereas if the car was put on with the reserve as the starting price it might well sell (as long as it's not silly) and it'...

Think it's more lack of space / money than lack of desire in most peoples' cases - I used to have posters of a Beta HPE and a BMW 3.0 CSL on my wall (bigger than the pics of slightly suspect pop stars which accompanied them) as a teenager and I've never owned one so it'd have been coming home with m...

If nobody's dropped you an offer yet, maybe stick it on Alfaowner in the Brera section? I think Clarkson has a lot to answer for when it comes to this kind of rubbish - though Top Gear was entertaining (esp when it came to crushing Marinas with pianos) it did start out a trend, e.g. Fifth gear trying to ape Top Gear by proving an immaculate Mercedes W124 saloon wasn't bomb proof, by pu...

Very true, the pre-facelift VW Type 3 looked pretty similar from the front too. That's a nice, easy one - BMW 700; I've always thought they look a bit like an Amphicar styling-wise.

In the 80s I used to love taking the wind out of people's sails when they said they had a BMW with a great deal of pride, by replying "700 or Isetta?" :D

Wanted - gtv6 crankshaft pulley or 75 v6 flywheel and pulley

Unfortunately I've found the crankshaft pulley on my 3.0 v6 12v rebuild is cracked, so need to replace it.

Ideally I'd like to grab a matching pulley / flywheel set from a 75 3.0, but a 75 2.5 would do the job, or just a 116 2.5 gtv's crankshaft pulley if anyone's got one knocking around?

Pleease?

Hi, I'm a newbie too and spend a fair bit of time searching autoscout for 116 Giuliettas (my plan is to eventually convert one to RHD and stick a Busso in it), so a good choice for your search. Now that would be an interesting thing to try :) It's just got a viscous centre diff on the manual box for the rear wheel drive so no reason why you couldn't take that off and effectively make it 2 wheel drive. Though there's not that much difference size-wise by the looks of it between a Subaru box...

Yes indeed, I'm quite looking forward to getting the welder out again for an Alfetta or Giulietta - Subarus don't have many rust issues and I had to farm out replacing the 156 GTA's sills and floorpan (both rusted through at 12 years old, so much for the improved rustproofing!) to a 3rd party becaus...

Maybe if you put a 4 cylinder Nord/Twin Spark engine in your Giulietta project, you could save yourself a lot of time/money/hassle etc? Possibly, but it's the Busso noise I'm really after - that's the bit I miss most about driving an Alfa. And I'm not fond of the handling of the front wheel drive B...

Car and classic is good, I sold a W124 Mercedes through there about 3 years ago, but I have noticed you do get a lot of old chaps who phone up seemingly just for a nostalgic chat about cars advertised on there.
