Re: Gear box oil recommendations

Yeah it's a pain really..... I had my engine and gearbox out a few years ago and could have had seals done then.... looking back I should have.... but there were no leaks...... so if it ain't broke...... Hard to know. Especially as seal replacement for half shafts needs special tools that seem hard ...

Re: Front Caliper Rebuild Kits

I thought all suds have in board brakes at front and use the same ATE caliper.... I had mine fully rebuilt by Bigg Red.... came back as new and have been perfect. Had new seals and pistons.. bodies replated.... no more dragging..... handbrake works freely.... oh and might be worth a new handbrake ca...

Re: Alfa tool A.3.0298 for replacing gearbox hub seals

Hi there is indeed a puller that removes a pressed on ring that retains the half shaft into the bearing.. there are 2 seals... an o ring and an actual oil seal..the.oring is around the bearing support housing as seals it to the gear box.. and the coil seal that stops oil leaking past the half shaft ...

Re: Metric wheels with TRX tyres.

You can check the date on any tyre quite easily, if it's not clear on their condition. All tyres have a date code on the sidewall. If made in the 80's or 90's they have a 3 digit code, for example 237. That means the tyre was made on the 23 week of 1987. If it has a little triangle after the 7 that...

Re: Metric wheels with TRX tyres.

How old are these tyres, I'm all for originality but not sure I'd want to drive them on the road. How would they fair if for some reason you were stopped by the police? Wouldn't a fail on 4 tyres = a ban? Just saying. I possibly didn't make my self clear when I said for show use...... to be put on ...

Re: Metric wheels with TRX tyres.

Having driven many suds on both the metric TRX tyres and more regular 185/60/14 tyres. I have to say I always found the TRX shod vehicle’s more twitchy and generally gave a less pleasant ride. I actually hated them and I thought they spoiled the superb balance of the suds chassis. Over the yrs We a...

Re: Metric wheels with TRX tyres.

I was told that the Suds and Sprints handle better with the TRX tyres but I’ve never actually tried them out. Also, I have a pair of new TRX tyres if they are of any use? I have 14” speed lines on my Sud at the moment... Yes I could be interested in the tyres. :-) depending what you want for them, ...

Metric wheels with TRX tyres.

Dear all, I have just had my sprint cloverleaf metric wheels refurbed and am refitting the tyres, and it crossed my mind.... is anyone actually still running on these wheels?!?!? I have a set of the 14" speedlines that she runs on now but have the original set for show use, obviously the tyres are d...

I know this car, as I live in the isle of Wight, and I knew the previous owner.... or at least the guy who owned it around 1990.... back in the day it was always quite rust free but had a damaged rear quarter.... a bus drove into it in Newport high street. Also it was Rodneys daily car...he lived in...

Re: Alfasud electronic ignition

Thanks Pete - a picture would be useful. I just need to get a feel for the size of the heatsink. Good to know it isn't a complicated finned thing, although I do like the look of the Marelli and I have also read that it has proved to be reliable. Back in the 90s.... I had my sprint with Webers and B...

Re: Alfasud electronic ignition

I have the Bosch ignition system with distributor fitted to my 1.5 green cloverleaf sprint.... is this the one you mean? Yes it's different to the marelli... the marelli from memory has a large alloy heatsink the coil sits on.... the Bosch doesn't... just an alloy plate, both the coil and ign amplif...

Re: Pin out of spica 0440 relay for sprint interior light de

Update... turns out I'm using the standard relay not the delay one.... delay one has indeed 3 pins marked 30,I and L.... and numbered 0948.... so either I leave it wired as is using the standard 0440 or look for a new 0948.
Cheers all

Re: Pin out of spica 0440 relay for sprint interior light de

Historically mine used to work.... so should be able to resolve..... My other thought was could anyone with an 83 onwards sprint pop the back off their fuse box and just tell me the colours of the wires and their positions. Or a photo.... the delay timer relay is marked 0440 and is on the upper row ...

Re: Pin out of spica 0440 relay for sprint interior light de

Fantastic , thankyou. The haynes manual shows 3 wires,1) switched earth from door switches....2) positive output to one side of the interior light and the ignition switch light and finally 3) a 12v supply.... I can find in my car a 12v supply that goes low when door switches are closed... e.g. door ...

Good to see your making progress.... re the oil comments as I said my 16v has been on 20/50..... (although I have a feeling FL changed the viscosity slightly of the HPX oil at some point in the last 15 years, would have to go and look at a bottle in the garage....) For best part of the last 20 years...

Re: My new project, finally got my integrale.

You can get the lower sump off a 16v without touching the transfer box..... didn't think the 8v was different.... Will be interested to hear the procedure.
I could do with changing my upper sump gasket.... but that is a gearbox out job and the week is really too minor to warrant that .... .
