Re: Anyone got a 1500 block?
87mm bore - 1700 pistons, - with a 1500 ( 67.2mm stroke ) crank, - the 145 / 146 1.6 boxer engines did it the other way, with 84mm bore and 72mm ( 1700 ) crank, - short stroke = revs !
If you still need a 1500 block I'm sure I will have one, - let me know if you do.
Cheers, John.

Another 12 months on and a fresh mot ! - it needed a couple of front wishbones and a sidelight bulb - what an a bloody fiddly thing to change ! - but otherwise still going strong, - 9200 miles this year, and still very pleased with it !

Re: Twin carbs
The problem may lie with the inlet manifold, some are very thin between the inlet tract and the counter bore for the mounting nut, so that the gasket may leak air into the inlet at small thottle opening when there is max. vacuum in the inlet. I have cured this in the past by removing the stud that i...

It looks fantastic Chris, - particularly the roof - invisible repairs on such a large flat-ish panel shows great skill ! I have a set of +6 piston rings if you need a set.

A bit of heat on the aluminium rear cover is generally enough to free it, - it doesn't need to be massively hot !

Series 1 ti's for sale
Anyone looking for a project or 3 ?? I spoke to a customer yesterday who has 3 series 1 ti projects that he needs to move on. He is looking to sell to one buyer rather than multiple buyers. One is complete, it has been off the road for a long time, very original, good interior, needs paint and some ...

Sprint Veloce at Mathewsons
Did anyone on here buy this on Saturday ? - cracking car, off the road since '92, 7200 miles only, - that was very, very likely genuine, but looked horrible, covered in muck, and not washed, there was some rust in the front wings, but otherwise very good, but would probably need a full paint, and im...

Re: Boxer inlet manifold studs
To actually answer the question, - there is approx 16mm of thread in the head, plus the 60mm that you've measured projecting out of the head, the thread is standard M8 x 1.25.

Re: Stiff steering
I should .... but steel fabrication is my main business, and it keeps me busy, so a managable number of enquiries and orders of Sud bits is great, but there is no point in chasing business that I couldn't cope with, - I struggle at times now. I appreciate the business, and it is a pleasant distracti...

Re: SPRINT RESURRECTION
Dilemma ! I'd go with green, - I do think that the early Sprints looked good in one colour. The black was a creeping thing, first the B post trims, then the window frames on the doors and the rear quarter window frames were done black too. What is easier to change if you don't like it, green ones to...

Re: Sud rear screen seal
I think this seal is the same size as a series 2 seal, but this has a lip running along the bottom edge that fitted under the top edge of the boot lid, - the series 3 boot lid was different to the series 2 in that it had a step along the top edge, and extra lights in it, so unique to series 3 booted...

Re: 2002 Alfa 156 2.0 JTS Veloce
The only downside to the LPG is that the spare wheel makes the boot untidy as the tank is in the spare wheel well ! - and the rarety of LPG pumps at petrol stations, but I've a bulk tank at the workshop that the heating runs off, and I can fill the car from that, so for me, very convenient. The car ...

Re: 2002 Alfa 156 2.0 JTS Veloce
Well, 12 months on, - mot time ..... and no problem ! I've done nearly 9000 miles in it, and it's still great, I had it converted to LPG, so cheap to run fuel wise, - about 7000 miles was when the conversion paid for it's self, and with something like 80% less Nox, and 30 % less co2 it's greener tha...
