Re: How reliable are Alfas (Stellantis) new generation of engines

Hi Lou No Giulia experience (dreaming about a QV, but that’s all it will be), only Giulietta which might be pre Stellantis? It’s a 2013 1.4 petrol turbo, owned from 20k and now done 68k. No issues at all really, just servicing and a couple of niggles, door handle broke (more user abuse than design i...

Re: A bit of nostalgia

Last few, promise……my dad found this in his loft, I completed it by sending off for the last few sticker needed. Who remembers Figurine Panini sticker books ? Clearly a ‘sign’ of things to come that I stuck an Alfa badge over the O for Auto on the front cover…………..or it was simply because it was rou...

Some pics of flooding on their f@ckedupbook page, but last year was garbage with lots of complaints. It took an hour to go round, we thought we’d missed some of the halls it was that small, but it really was terrible. Main hall at the entrance, and a tiny hall at the side. Re: Tyres

Hi Dave, warm and wet they were ok, warm and dry as good as a Fiat 500 needed. But cold and wet/damp not great.

To be fair Michelin pilot sport can be twitchy in cold and damp.

I noticed a marked improvement in ride and road noise when I put the yoko’s on as well as grip

Re: Tyres

I wouldn’t based on what you can get here for £40 upwards. Fitting extra bot kumho at 40, yoko, uniroyal etc. The Chinese stuff on my daughter’s Fiat 500 was fine in warm dry weather, poor in cold and damp. It’s got Yokohama now. https://www.camskill.co.uk/m4b0s386p0/Car_Tyres_-_MPV_Tyres_-_People_C...

Re: 1500ti restoration. Ex racer

Hi Kev Yes it is Rodger’s old car, now owned by a chap appropriately called Mario (the current seller). I last saw it at Brunswick when I went down for a bit of maintenance. The engine alone would be close to asking price today if paying to have one built, but at most you’d get the engine and box bu...

Re: 1500ti restoration. Ex racer

Hi James. Sometimes you have to hold out and a buyer turns up. The economy won’t be helping. Plus personally some things are just over priced so it’s hard to compare. The other aspect is you have a bit of a hybrid car, it isn’t a fully fledged road car and nor is it race ready. Leaves you in the mid...

Forgot to say you need to fit the full outboard suspension arms etc if it’s inboard currently.

Do you mean the full strut with shocker insert ?

Re: Funding our forum

I think it needs to be donations and not membership or ads, the latter adds cost and complexity in their own right. Somewhere above £10 per annum is mentioned, doesn’t seem a lot I haven’t donated before, more thru forgetting until it comes up. £20 per annum, or even a pound a week by recurring tran...

The small print in this eBay ad suggest these are oversize. Don’t worry if ads state 1.4 and such like as the rod bearings are the same on all boxer engine sizes. Description doesn’t say Alfa so maybe do a part number cross check. Stick to Mahle, king etc brands https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1959416295...

Rolling road is the place to go, worth the cost overall. All my engines have purposely run just slightly lean, set up that way on the rollers for torque and power. A stumble on sub 3k revs could be too rich. Appreciate non of mine have been Road use so different circumstances. Just as an extra, are ...

Hi AoG, I think I posted this before in your thread, but I traded some new +4 1500 dished pistons with Dave Ashford at Brunswick Racing, he may still have them and might sell them (he took them to put on the shelf if ever needed for a road engine build, his race engines have his own spec pistons) I ...

Re: Who to rebuld an engine

Well, if you decide to stick with the old route, I have a set of new but std size 1500 dished pistons and rings already fitted to a set of good rods. No good for a rebore but if the block is good and just a hone is needed then it could be a plan B
