Re: My 84 Sud Ti Project
The green one was about a week away from being dismantled on the driveway due to terminal rust, and yes the trusty brick to stop it rolling into the garage door. The white s1 in the background of the second pick replaced it. I loved that green sud, I drove it flat out everywhere, had a ANSA back box...

Re: Footman James
It can be a bit random I find Dave. Aviva gave me a very competitive quote for my own car, but worse terms for a multi car with daughters cars included. Admiral were high for my car, but far lower on multi car with daughters included. I also used to use Sheila’s Wheels, but they don’t insure under 2...

Re: My 84 Sud Ti Project
I would stick to original, it’s a lovely colour and if you fit those Revo wheels you could do the spokes graphite? Or this green if going non s3 std but still a Sud colour (I like green obviously…), clearly the paints a bit flat looking on my first ever, very tired bodily, but very quick Sud as a 17...

Ian Brookfield will possibly know from the sud register.
My guess is 2, teds racer and another road car that was for sale a year or so ago.
Plus yours.

Re: Battery charging
Thanks Dave I had a look in our Fiat 500 handbook, it reminded me I had previously charged the battery on the Giulietta with stop start and there’s a sensor clipped on the battery that comes off, and then just connect the charger direct to battery without removing leads. For non stop start it says t...

Battery charging
Dumb question perhaps …… My BMW’s have always had specific under bonnet +ve and -ve posts for jump starting or battery charging, never had to go anywhere the battery. It’s a long time since I had to charge a battery direct on a modern car with loads of electronic goodies. I have an intelligent charg...

Hi Keith, it’s an M4 Competition …..with an added later life crisis convertible steel roof, so side on looks a bit like an M2 on steroids, or one that ate all the pies.

I like fast estates……..or Tourings as bmw like to call them, colour suits it and I’m sure you guys will also. I’m still feeling ill from my recent Impractical, illogical money pit purchase, but life is too short so …………the most least practical feature of the very long list of impractical features is...

Pre 90’s Alfa race at Silverstone 2nd november
For adsblacksud and Ted if you see this, the Alfa Championship coordinator Ed Robinson has secured places at the Walter Hayes Trophy in what is usually the all comers race and is trying to get as many pre ‘90 alfas there as possible, so suds, 33’s, alfetta , 75’s etc. Entry is just £165 I have the e...

That is truly wonderful, often fancied one myself. The shape suits silvers and metallic grays. What colour are the seats ? I was always fixed on black leather, black carpets, black roof lining etc nothing else, however I’ve gone full circle and the Giulietta is white with red leather, I’ve had red w...

Thanks both. It will have to be a low power version for 17 year old insurance. We have a Giulietta 1.4tb which has been great, bought with 20k miles and we’ve done another 50k miles in it with just a few minor niggles like door handle broke but mechanically great so far. I’ll keep looking, there’s a...

My daughter wants a Mito, the Alfa specialist I use now said steer clear of the twin air due to non car folks not maintaining properly, oil level, servicing etc. He said go for the 1400cc (96bhp non turbo). Any experience and thoughts from fellow forum members? The low power 1.4 for sale are mostly ...

You did more than a favour storing it Kev, and I’ll always be grateful for the work you did on the sprint and sud, I think I got the best side of the Clio deal tbh. The sprint still looks good (and might be for sale  ). Can’t have everything Kev, and I’m more than happy with what I have had. ...

Re: The sad End of an Era
Hi Lou Yep I saw the launch vid, and the subsequent Milano / Junior debacle. The bullshit spouted in the launch vid was comical. Make the most of what’s left on the used market, and ditch that merc for a QV, wish I could have stretched to one instead of the sensible beemer workhorse. Credit to the I...

This far and deep in, source the correct ones and refurb.
The green dot ones will clash with the beautiful green paint and look too modern against the chrome bumper early look.
Ignore Dave, he’s been smoking something (Sorry Dave !).

Re: SPRINT RESURRECTION
Do you mean the engine mount on the crossmember? I might have a good used one I’ll need to check in my dad’s shed ! If all else fails, and when I was stuck for one, we ‘repaired’ an old one and it’s still good and in use on my racer. The wear and weakpoint is usually where the rubber is bonded to th...

Forgot to add, before using millers I used Castrol gear oil, syntrax I think it was called which was good stuff, but the millers is even better so it’s worth it. I the gear change was a marked step up again over castrol going to millers.

Re: Slow gearchange
I use the millers, expensive but excellent. Mines a 1200ti std box but in my racer so it’s running hard and hot when in use. Doubt you’d need to change it for a good few years so worth it.

Same for me re land Rover, never . Lou - what made you eliminate the 5 series, did you try one or just in general. Only merc I had was a hire car for a month, e220 amg when a 5 series I had was being repaired. To be fair the 5 was a 535 but the almost new e class wasn’t a patch in my near 10 year ol...

Choose a 5 series before a 3 series, the 5 is a really nice thing to drive and be in. Mercs- no thanks. Jag XE = Ford Mondeo Kia stinger just a bit funny looking. Mustang….nooooo Alfa stelvio nice, QV defo, Tonali not sure. Don’t mind the Volvos but if it’s not a stelvio then I’d have the Skoda out ...

Re: How reliable are Alfas (Stellantis) new generation of engines
If you have budget for a 1 or 2 year old giulia turbo then it’s a no brainier to use the same money for a 3 or 4 year old QV. No contest , just get the QV !
