Re: An introduction and my 1980 1.5 super

Yes! By the time I got to see a preview it was too late to change it.

Jonny is a great guy too, a proper car but, not just playing it for the cameras. He actually had an ivory gold cloverleaf like my dads at one point too!

Re: An introduction and my 1980 1.5 super

Asked my mum to see if she had any more photos, This green one is what picked me up and took me home from hospital after I was born https://i.imgur.com/aqgYcwV.jpg This black one replaced it and was written off with us all in it after a transit on the wrong side of the road hit the OS wing and wheel...

Yes, it was a gold cloverleaf. Our first car with electric windows as far as I can remember, was 6 or 7 years old.

Re: An introduction and my 1980 1.5 super

Nothing much to add, car has been under cover for probably two months now as it’s either been freezing with salty roads, or damp wet and horrible. Was hoping we’d get some dry weather during this recent warm spell but no such luck. However, I was at my mums today and found these photos amongst mine,...

Re: 2002 Alfa 156 2.0 JTS Veloce

Strange that it’s got a jts badge, they definitely did a jts in the pre facelift but I think it came quite late with the slightly updated dash and colour coded rub strips on the bumpers. My dad had 3 as his last sensible family cars before we all moved out. Always thought the looked great and drove ...

The way it got there quickly then sat for several days without increasing, and has now been relisted due to a ‘non paying bidder’ makes me think some shill bidding was going on.

Re: Super Unleaded Availability

It’s incredibly annoying, and making it the lead headline news story didn’t help. As soon as I saw it I told the other half it would mean massive queues and petrol stations running out. Due to an issue with her car I was commuting in the ‘sud. No problem getting on a pump and filling up at 5am on th...

That’s the one that’s £18k on eBay isn’t it?

Coincidently, I was at the Jonny smith / sniff petrol, late brake show on tour in my sud a couple of weeks back and Sarah the office lady at Matthewsons came over and spoke to me about mine while her friend took some photos :D

Re: Super Unleaded Availability

My integrale cracked one of the hard plastic lines near where it met the rubber section down under the unlit manifold, was a little bit smelly! That was about 12 years ago. I replaced the whole thing with some copper pipe I had laying around and had no issues, it did run inside the car though. I’d h...

Ok, thank you, I will try that first. I didn’t know if there was a rubber liner inside the hose which could collapse like old brake flex is have been know to.

Re: Clutch issues again

I was actually wondering how the original hose is constructed? It feels like a solid plastic pipe but I’m assuming there’s a normal hose inside? What do people do to replace it? A normal braided flexi made to the right length? I think I will get a slave in stock anyway as has been said above they’re...

Clutch issues again

Back in the spring I changed my clutch because the old one started slipping, not all the time, and worse when hot. I had assumed it was contamination because it didn’t behave like a normal worn clutch failure where the revs just keep rising, it was acting more like a cvt transmission where the revs ...

Re: Super Unleaded Availability

I suspect it’s more of an unexpected demand for super from people unsure about or unable to use e10 rather than any particular rationing or shortage of supply. No issues filling up over the past couple of weeks at the local Tesco’s for their momentum99 which I’ve been using in all our cars except th...

Yep, I went back and had a look. Early front struts

Hi, I’m guessing due to not seeing any in almost a year of looking they’re not easy to come by.

Has anyone got a decent pair of struts which would fit my s2? The early type with the thread and nut at the bottom.

Dampers and other parts not needed, but would be handy spares if they were included.

I’ve always read that most home testers aren’t that accurate and not to focus too much on the numbers just to ensure they’re all even. I don’t know how much truth there is in that.

Is anyone else this odd? I’d noticed that one of the rear quarter lights was Saint Gobain and didn’t match the sicursiv glass everywhere else. Handily a spare set of door I picked up last winter had the missing piece. https://i.imgur.com/ASn2ikE.jpg https://i.imgur.com/3ERguSg.png https://i.imgur.co...

I really want to say Honda nsx for the yellow one, but they only have the single scoop, unless there’s a specific version or kit with the extra lower one.

Re: Sagging seats

I watched a program where they were restoring an old chair and pinched together the long wavy springs to increase the tension again.

On mine the holes holding the front coil springs through the seat base had pulled out so they were just left hanging so I drilled some new ones to reattach them.

Re: An introduction and my 1980 1.5 super

Not a huge amount to update, which is a good thing I guess, I’ve just been using it when the weather suits. A trip to the Alfa national day back at the end of June was the last big trip. While doing the clutch a few months back I noticed the front bushes looked past their best. Of course I couldn’t ...

I personally would write a good advert, some decent photos, post the link around a few suitable forums / groups which allow it, and see how it goes.
