Re: How to remove a CV joint

Hi All, when you say you want to replace a CV, does this mean you have found a source of outer CV?
I would dearly like to replace my 105hp sprint Outer CV joints, as 40 yrs of use has made them occasionally noisy, but I cannot find replacements anywhere..
Any leads welcome

Re: Series 3 sprint exhaust mounting.

Thanks Lou, indeed it has never been there on my car up from 1991 until today.. as I say it looked like it would snap very quickly... I wanted to fit it as I do from time to time get a bit of knocking of the system as it wobbles on the rubber hoops... hits the suspension arm mounting on drivers side...

Series 3 sprint exhaust mounting.

Random question of the day folks .... After 28 years of ownership and the middle bracket never being fitted to the very rear most exhaust hanger.... just the 2 loop mountings. I was idly surfing ebay at sprint and sud bits and found the middle mounting.... my exhaust has had a tendency to knock occa...

Re: Gearbox gear selector oil seal replacement

I would advise caution... I scratched the gearchange shaft changing mine in situe.... So my oil leak continued..... I ended up overhauling a spare green cloverleaf box I have had kicking around for 20 years or so and fitting that.... removing the end cover is a much safer way to replace the seal... ...

Re: Help Please..

I found it quite straightforward once the track rod studs are removed. Both slid into place from the passenger side end?
I seem to remember the Haynes says various tools are needed but I didnt need anything special when I changed mine.

Yeah it's more a question of what is reasonable/realistic... reality is I hope it never happens.... I'm surprised the ebay one is worth 15k.... but I don't watch prices...it may well be,hence my question.

Re: Gearstick vibration in 4th.

Follow up on this... have now done 120 miles in the car with new box, driving so much better... in fact the best it ever has in 28 years of ownership. Everything is settling in nicely.... slight bit of noise from the speedo. And a little bounce to the needle below 40.. I suspect it has a bit of wear...

Sprint Values these days.

Dear all, seeing the red Sprint currently on ebay for £15k got me thinking... my Sprint qv is of similar vintage , higher miles but has correct exhaust, interior trim, correct wheel centres etc. Realistically for agreed value purposes how much are others insuring their cars for? I had mine insured f...

Re: Gearstick vibration in 4th.

Yes I had kind of discarded it as a possibility as the top hat bush I replaced in the 90s.... and since 2000 the car has done less than 3000 miles.... didnt seem to vibrate the same with out going gearbox but I did also replace the tail stock mounting bushes..... old ones were pretty soft.... so per...

Re: Gearstick vibration in 4th.

To close this off.... the gearstick top hat bush kit arrived today... have fitted it and would seem to have resolved the problem .... also I can confirm after 45 miles the gearchange shaft is oil leak free ... as is the rest of the box. So just need a bit of sunshine now.
Cheers all

Thanks Lou.... yes I'm leaning towards that... the bolt that attaches the stick to the rod going forward has some wear and I replaced it last night .... not with a shouldered bolt but with an m6 ...threaded all the way up.... not ideal of course but I did ten miles in it this afternoon and its notic...

Gearstick vibration in 4th.

Quick question for you all, to resolve my leaky gear change seal I have pulled my spare green cloverleaf transmission out of my shed, re sealed it .... new oil and slotted it into the car. So far its leak free which is of course positive. The car it came from had lower miles than my car... so as far...

Mine is exactly the same. My car didnt come with a passenger door mirror as standard as its 83 built. So not a requirement.... but door was drilled and a cover plate fitted. I got a passenger side mirror from Jeff at southern Alfa in the 90s.... and it also is good for passenger but useless for driv...

Sud/sprint 105bhp cv joint suppliers

Anyone know if anyone makes new cv Joints still?!? Im thinking about new ones on my sprint. Possibly all 4 eg inner and outer. It has the fatter 105hp shafts. Thanks All... it didn't used to leak..... i cant decide if its worth the Agro and cost to strip it all out again ... and to send my spare box to have all its seals changed..... at 37 years old its marking its territory!
If i top it up occasionally its probably fine....
But the drip annoys me😄.

Thanks for the replies Gents, the bolts are only part threaded hence looking for original ish ones.
But will see what I can get M10×1.25.
Mine are in and holding but are showing there age after 38 years of service..
I assume alfa will have long since discontinued.
