Re: Oversize Pistons
The bottom end in my engine has been checked by the machine shop and is all good, I have got new bearings and thrust washers to complete the job. The head has been checked and skimmed with a couple of new valve guides needed and is good to go. It was the pistons that where the issue as they needed t...

Re: Oversize Pistons
I looked at the Wossner forged pistons also, but these raise the compression ratio to around 12.6:1. For me and my usage as a semi daily driver the extra work involved using these, not to mention the costs involved and possibly the drivability also. If the pistons I’ve sorted from Greece which are n...

The bores are too worn for just rings, that would be just too easy!!
I will give the other two companies a call and see what they have, I have check there online listings with no luck but it is worth a phone call.

Re: Greek chappie
Hi
Used him a few times to buy parts for my 145, never had any problems.
Items arrive relatively quickly and well packaged.
There was a period where his website was “unsafe” so I couldn’t make a purchase, but he soon sorted the issue.
Hope this helps

Re: Windscreen dimensions
Hi Lou That reference number is correct according to Pilkingtons, but beware the screen they sent for my series 3 was too small. I’m still in the process of them sorting out, they have the size of my original screen so hoping the correct screen will eventually be supplied. (Given the current coronav...

Fuel pump oil seals
Hi Guys Got a small oil leak around the fuel pump on my series 3 Sud, nothing major but just annoying. The oil seals are clearly worn, and over the years I have never been able to find suitable replacements. I have tried gasket sealer and paper gaskets all with only marginal success, anyone have any...

Yes most shops will be able to order a roll or a good quality alternative, the rolls are normally around 10 square metre so you will have plenty to do your car

Re: Carpet underlay
Hi Being in the flooring trade I used Foamalux carpet underlay, it has a dense crumb rubber backing onto a thick felted backing. This makes it easy to cut into place around the centre console tunnel etc, gives the sound deadening you desire as well as making the carpet keep its proper shape. It also...

Re: Initial Settings For Dellorto DRLA
I've been reading that the starting point should be 3.5 - 4 turns, admittedly for vw engines. I'd started at 2.5 - 3 turns and just couldn't get it right - they are similar settings to Webers I will give them a try, thanks Shrew.

Hi Marlow Sud
Just fitted the 123 Tune using your curve, best thing Ive bought for my car.
The engine starts better, idles better, just taken it for a quick spin round the block and the accelaration is much smoother !!!
Fantastic bit of kit, great recommendation
Many Thanks

Re: 123 Programable Distributor
Just removed the black and green wire from the negative side of the coil and the Rev counter isn't working, so in theory if that wire is used on the new coil it should continue to function.
Happy days !!!

Re: 123 Programable Distributor
That's good advice, I've also looked at the options available and I can buy the distributor with the cap with the leads going in the top for the "stock" look. One other thing before I spend more of my hard earned!!, will my rev counter still work ?
Thanks for your advice

Re: 123 Programable Distributor
Hi
Thanks for all the info, from your photos do it looks like you wire the distributor straight to the coil, so there is no ignition module.
Is that correct?

That is a great recommendation, although on the box it says it replaces a Bosch distributor, were mine is a Marelli.
Will that make any difference?

Hi Everyone
I've been looking at these Programable distributors, my car has a Marelli ignition system, can I use one in my car and are they worth the investment?
