Re: Ignition switch

Have you tried tipping some graphite into it as i have found this has released bits in locks better than oil in a few cases.

Re: Sud front wing

Oh and you might be able to answer a question I have. Do you know if the oil cap on the rocker box on such as a Alfa gt junior would fit on a Lancia Beta/Monte engine as the one on my car is lousy and leaks oil all the while.
It appears to be a regular problem.

Re: Sud front wing

Hi. If i recall correctly and its been few years now, its a genuine Alfa one with only a bit of surface rust on the edges where its stood or been scraped as its been moved around. The chap i sold it to used it more as a pattern than to help him make sections to weld in to his car. He like you wanted...

Re: Tyres

To help with my conscience I have fitted eco tyres on the Lancia and they suit it fine. Had them on my day to day car for years and they have lasted well and save fuel costs. Plus they only cost me £50 each at the time. Oddly people consistently expect them to be more expensive. Not sure why they ha...

Blimey that is a lot of money to find. You would need some good sponsors to do well with the ongoing expenses.

Interesting to see how much is involved in the basic costs. Ta.

Also you may find it interesting from an engineering point of view to look up Berd spokes which make some of the string spokes which people are starting to use. Hooking a bit of string around a hook on a flange, then building it in to a wheel to go down the road is a bit mind bending to me.

Re: Physics Question.

Then your just hanging from the top. Which is why you see touring bikes with 3x crossing to give a kinder life to the body on the bike, rather than a stiffer wheel to go faster. There is of course periodic stresses as load changes and torque altering things and when you look into it things get very ...

Re: Physics Question.

The spokes that you are hanging on as you progress down the road are the top spokes in relation to the rim, but the side spokes in relation to the hub. That is normal for a 3 spokes crossing wheel. So the top spokes on the hub are side spokes on the rim, and so on around the wheel. The tightest spok...

Well the Sud is not getting much in the way of interest, I am finding it hard to gauge as often you get offers or comments but this time there is nothing. Not on ebay or car and classic. Quite odd. Don't know if to wait a bit or keep dropping the price. Looking at what else is going for the same mon...

The small firm that helped me so much with the Lancia was H and H ignition solutions. Brierly Hill 01384 261500. I would give them a ring and see if you can send them a picture of what your after if they don't recognize it. I just e mailed a few pictures, before they took the job on. Very helpfull a...

Hi Kev. Yes, that would be very useful as all my Citroen knowledge went from diesel Visa's onward. One of my mates had a super XM did 220 k in it. Might even still be alive that one. Not seen the DS that I have been alerted too, so a bit more knowledge before I go would be great. Lots of people look...

Yes a proper DS. So a bit daunting after a stripped down car, but when I had the GT Junior along with another chap in the Alfa club we used to comment that the only problem with owning a classic Alfa was it kept you from buying a Citroen DS. Also I have learnt a lot from owning the Sud and it was a ...

Rolling road is the place to go, worth the cost overall. All my engines have purposely run just slightly lean, set up that way on the rollers for torque and power. A stumble on sub 3k revs could be too rich. Appreciate non of mine have been Road use so different circumstances. Just as an extra, are...

Amazing it has ended up so rusty despite such few miles. Still its all there. I wonder what the story behind that is. The Lancia coupe made good money as well. most surprised at that. Some of the cars are perfectly usable, sensible, have a bit of fun with and not spend vast sums. A lot of the curren...
