Engine weights

Hi everyone, I have had a good look on my own personal internet lol and have had no luck finding out - What is the weight of a 2.0 injected 8v Twinspark engine ? I am looking to re engine an Alfetta sedan racecar and am trying to determine the weight difference between the above and a 3.0 V6 24v (so...

My Black Sud Sprint - where is it now ?

I raced it in the classic touring cars and classic thunder in 2005, winning my class in the AROC racing championship for class H, and also that year third in class in classic thunder. We built the car in our shed at a total cost of about 4000 pounds. It ran a 1588cc "hybrid" engine from my old car -...

Re: 2.0 Twin Spark engine/gearbox into a Sud ?

My logic was purely based on bhp/$, with the high cost of seriously developing a 1.7 16v boxer unit - and I was looking at substituting a 150bhp 2.0 twinspark for the existing 105bhp 1.5 boxer. I just wondered if anyone has made it fit, as being the first to do something like this is always expensiv...

Re: 2.0 Twin Spark engine/gearbox into a Sud ?

I was comparing it with a 1.5 boxer (105bhp) that's in the car, so I'm working with a 45bhp gain, but you are probably right, being the law 'n all ! So, I guess no one has done it then..... I was looking at the cost of upgrading to a 16v, but being 1712cc you end up in the 1600 -2000 class. If my ma...

Re: What's the deal with the Alfa Romeo Championship

I know this is an old thread, but I cant for the life of me understand why the AutoItalia championship couldn't be revived - it was a great championship, particularly when running alongside the Alfa championship. (I used to hire my car out to Ted Reddick to do the Alfa race while I did Auto Italia) ...

2.0 Twin Spark engine/gearbox into a Sud ?

Has anyone ever done this ? I know there would be a certain amount of engineering to consider, but it could maybe make a great basis for a Sud Racecar, even with a standard(ish) engine.......

Re: Alfasud Sprint 1.7 16V Racing Car For Sale

Just out of idle curiosity, did the car get sold ?

I had a Sprint racer which I raced in the same championship as you a few years before, and always wanted to build a 16v Sprint - I ended up with a 16v 33 as it was an absolute steal, here in Australia, but still love the Sud Sprint !

Thanks

Re: 33 16v Race Mods

Hi guys Well - you know what they say about the best laid plans ? Business and personal issues have kept me away from the track so far with the car, but I'm hoping to do something with it this season. Basically the car needed some structural welding of one of the front chassis legs, and while it was...

Hi Shrew A lot of good stuff in there mate - maybe you are right - although ultimately fuel injection is better, performance per dollar is probably better long term going the carb route - which is something I hadn't even considered, having deliberately bought a fuel injected Alfa.... Was planning on developing the injection route - as my perception is (rightly or wrongly) that this gives more scope ?
Are you saying the throttle bodies route is better ?

Re: BLS rebuilt 1.2ti gearbox for sale

Hi all I am removing and selling my 1.2ti gearbox at some point soon, so it will be up for grabs. The box was rebuilt by BLS, and has covered approximately 50-60 miles since being installed! Obviously, all issues were worked out of it, so this a lovely quiet, slick and smooth box, with all the clos...

Yes, I still don't get it - the only thing I've found so far is that the car has no wiper motor or linkage etc, just the actual wipers on the screen - weight saving I guess - shouldn't be too hard to source, even out here !

I like the Fiat x19. We don't have the same variety of Italian cars racing over here since the old Auto Itala series ended. I can't remember when I last saw an old Fiat racing, just the odd Lancia. I raced in the AutoItalia championship for a few years and absolutely loved it - reverse grids, rolli...

Mark - did you also race a metallic blue 33 in class F days? Was the black sprint the ex Bianco class F car raced by someone called 'Kite'? Yes indeed guys - a lot of wise words !
