Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Hi Liam Maybe you have checked already but just looking at your pics your harnesses look close to the 45 degree limit when wearing a head restraint. Page 189 of the 2017 MSA 'bluebook' has a diagram. Just worth a check because my harnesses were found to be 47 degrees last year and I had to put anoth...

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Congratulations to Simon winning the class D championship in his Trofeo!! Another enjoyable day at Silverstone International with the CTCRC pre'83's. All cars safely back home. I will post my race from today up in the morning but be warned, it is 17 minutes of a back end of an orange mk1 Escort 2 li...

Thought I should put the video in the right folder. Here you go. A good battle with a red 3 litre Capri, an orange 2 litre Escort and at the end the red Firenza that swiped me at Village. Determined he wasn't going to get the chequered flag before me! https://youtu.be/3nIuoEv9BWo All the best, Malcolm

Re: 1974 Alfasud Trofeo
Hello CAF! As Simon has already said, a great day today. No protests from me, I think double points should be awarded for pulling off a 1998 Schumacher-esque piece of race craft! A red Firenza drove into the right rear wheel as I went around village and after which I had some sharp bits of wheel arc...

Here is rear view footage of the GTV. Sorry no sound. The GTV comes into shot around 8m 40s behind the two Jags. XJS has single headlight, XJ12 behind me. At 10m 50s the GTV gets past the XJ12 and then starts to chase me down. https://www.dropbox.com/s/78523lztt9i1zkz/Thruxton%20race%202%20rear.mp4?...

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Hello All Simon has summed up Thruxton well. Quite a good circuit in the dry but I must admit I didn't warm to it today in the wet. The self preservation chip kicks in around the back when flat out in fifth and so much spray you are looking for red lights rather than cars. I have one video uploaded ...

Very good news!
Used to enjoy watching Gabriele Tarquini back in the late 90's.
Rob Austin was the speaker and prize giver at the CTCRC evening last November. He gave me my pre '83 Class D winning trophy

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Hello CAF Well Lydden was an interesting experience, probably slightly more so for Simon as per the posts above! A short circuit and quite up and down. A bit of a car breaker and seemed to be very well suited to the 2 litre escorts. The front left tyre is shot due to the workload it had to do. Quali...

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Will be off to Lydden Hill this Saturday with the CTCRC. Looks like it will be a good turn out with the pre 83 cars having their own grids. The Trofeo, Sprint and SC should all be there, unsure about the Golf at the moment. Qualifying + 2x races all on Saturday. As luck would have it that leaves Sun...

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Hi All Safely back from the Silverstone GP circuit. First time CTCRC have run this circuit. Qualifying yesterday was quite a busy affair with so many series on the track at the same time. For the two 20 minute races on Sunday we just ran with pre 66's, pre 83's and pre 93's. Race one was looking lik...

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Hi All! Currently enjoying this weekend at Silverstone on the GP circuit. Only qualifying completed today with 2x 20 minute races tomorrow. Big grids at this meeting, qualifying was close to 60 cars I think with CTCRC pre 66, pre 83, pre 93 and some little Smart four two things. Everyone behaved the...

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Brilliant results Simon, well done! Glad you made qualifying. 6 hour round trip and little sleep the night before maybe a short letter to Mr RedBull for some sponsored carbon and inconel bits and pieces for the Trofeo ? Since Tom's setup the SC is a very capable 1598cc and is well and truly on the r...

Re: CTCRC Pre 83 2017
Very well done Simon. Excellent grid position. Good luck for the race and be sure to tell the Firenza's that you have 1286cc :D The only chance they may have will be down the straight but if they do manage it you will No doubt be back past them by Yentwood! Looks like Steve Primett has his work cut ...

Re: After over 3 years.......
Have a look at Gary orchard's TIX rebuild thread, I think there is talk of paint code stickers in there somewhere.
Lovely red btw. I think it is important to have the colour you want rather than the colour it came out of the factory with.

Re: 1974 Alfasud Trofeo
I agree with all other comments and for me it has a slightly more aggressive and purposeful look with the new paint.
Now concerned I will no longer be scampering away down the straights with my 1598cc's
My Class D trophy is not safe this year
Off to eat lettuce between now and Cadwell..

Good luck at Rockingham Simon.
That new paint will knock a couple of seconds off your lap times!
Look forward to seeing what the *improved* Trofeo is capable of.

Re: Snetterton 10th & 11th Sept
Hi Kieth In parc ferme the Capri owner said to me that he was glad the race was over because it was all he could do to maintain some form of gap. He admitted to having to take his 3 litre lump to 7000 revs which he doesn't like doing. Even with another five laps I wouldn't have got him, I was hoping...
