Re: Advance timing
I've tried a few timing variations and found on my car setting a 10deg advance at 850rpm works best. I bought an Accuspark P8000 timing light which is a neat bit of kit for the price and seems accurate. The car feels it has a bit more zip and torque plus it feels smoother, could just be my imaginati...

Re: Advance timing
Found the T mark! It is quite faint, not properly stamped, no wonder I missed it earlier, so it begs the question what is the Stud for?

Re: Advance timing
No misfire just a reluctance to buzz 'round to the red line. Checked the advance timing today and max mechanical advance occurs at 3250rpm just about spot on with the II mark, there seems to be no III mark. Attaching the vacuum increases the advance above 3250rpm....I suspect there's something else ...

Re: Advance timing
This is bugging me! I've noticed my 1350 sprint is not eager to rev beyond 4~4.5k. I seem to recall it being quite an eager unit but my memory may be a bit cloudy....so I've looked at the timing and made a small adjustment using an old Gunson strobe and set the timing at the I mark on the flywheel a...

Under Bonnet Light
Having recently broke the under bonnet light on the Sprint…well it had been broken before, repaired and broken again I decided to replace it with a small 4 LED scooter number plate light found on ebay. For a fiver it was worth a punt and the dimensions where just about spot on. This may be useful fo...

....my Sprint used to do it but I noticed yesterday, what a great day for a drive, that it doesn't any more...and I miss it!
Not sure if this has coincided with the fitment of NGK plugs (v.doubtful) or my recent carb 'refub' activities (much more likely)....any ideas guys?

Re: My Sprint, she seems to have caught a cold!
Fixed the air filter temperature flap with a replacement 'bulb' from MrSud. Simple case of unscrewing the old one, adjusting the flap via the spring adjuster and screwing in the 'new' one (after its been in the fridge for a bit) until the flap is just about to move. Yet to get the carb kit...

Re: My Sprint, she seems to have caught a cold!
I've had time to check the carbs over, she's been running fine but started to play up again so time to investigate. Its a case of bad carb good carb! :) The good carb was clean with just the float level a bit low at 4mm, tweaked it to just over 5mm and reassemble. The carb needed tightening down mor...

Coolant hoses
Does anybody know the internal dimensions of the coolant and heater hoses for the Sud Sprint twin carbs? I'm going to replace all the hoses as I have a couple of persistent leaks that I can't stop, the hoses are just too old. I'm looking at this eBay seller: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/autoperformances...

Re: My Sprint, she seems to have caught a cold!
All good points shrew, yes, twin carbs, plugs where gapped to .7mm I suspect the air flap has been stuck in the hot position throughout, there may be a blocked jet but I've had an in-line fuel filter fitted from the start along with new hoses so unless its faulty I'm not sure what it could be. I sus...

My Sprint, she seems to have caught a cold!
I’ve had a couple of issues with the old girl this week, went out for a blast at the weekend, lovely day some great roads but on the way back I could tell all was not well there was a slight misfire and hesitancy from pick up and very uneven idle. Weird. Checked her over and found a couple of issues...
