Re: Camshafts
Ok, so as long as i transfer the whole cambox, any mechanical cam can go on any non hydraulic head? I had been led to believe that the only difference between an 85HP 1500 single-carb motor, and a 95HP twin-carb, was the carbs and inlet manifold(s). it would seem the two motors have different heads ...

Re: Camshafts
Howdy, are there not 3 types of head? Mechanical with hex head adjusters, mechanical with shims, and hydraulic? I was under the impression they were all distinct from each other. I ask because i'm currently playing with some chambered heads from a 33 1.5 Ti (105HP, single lobe, shims), and a 1700 bl...

Bloodfire!!
As above mate, only just caught up with this thread.. Hoping all went well in procedure #2, and that they sent you home with some juicy meds.
Really appreciate your reply to my plastic trims question given the context

Re: Restoring black plastic trims etc
that's the thing innit.. when the black trims look to have faded, have they lost their colour (been bleached out), or has the surface oxidised? Perhaps a fine abrasive is needed to get back to healthy plastic, then the product (babyoil etc) will work better (more evenly)?

Paint Codes..
Howdy Y'all, my S1 33 is currently being prepped for paint, and the main body colour is Alfa Rosso 530. However, the car is two tone red and grey - i think most S1 33's were finished this way - and the silver label on the bonnet does not state a code for the grey sections. Anyone have any ideas on w...

Re: Restoring black plastic trims etc
Some time ago, i was restoring a vintage games console which had turned yellow, and jif cream bought it back pretty close to white. Sadly, it seems this particular bathroom product is no longer available, and given how brittle some of these bits are, i'd like to try non-abarasive methods first

Restoring black plastic trims etc
Hi All, Spent most of the last weekend stripping all the trim off of my 33 ready for prep and paint... lots of fun. Now that i'm looking at the assorted bits of trim, i'm wondering how to improve their appearance before re-fitting to a freshly painted body? I've tidied up some bumpers previously wit...

Re: Steel crank - who bought it?
Howdy Veesix, I bought that fine piece of steel from Bryan! Sadly, as Bryan suggested, it's under a bench waiting for deployment.. Did have a chat with someone (can't remember who  ) at BLS about it, and was told it was almost certainly intended to increase stroke in a 1500 block. My plan was ...

Wanted - solid boot lid for Mk1 33
Howdy,
The boot lid on my S1 is much more rotten than anticipated, so a solid replacement is needed! May consider getting one made up by Bob at alfapanels, but a good metal replacment is first choice.
Anybody got one?
Peace & Progress,
joel

Hey Pat,
wot did you think of the rip-roaring 16v lump in the Black 33Ti?
The preformance from that thing is unbelieveable, and not yet been to a rolling road

I can wholeheartedly reccommned Lazlo (ebay member 127_sud). Excellent communication, pretty fair prices, and very helpfull if you're seeking something he doesn't list in his shop. Only source i know of for metal strut pan bearings! (£25 each last time i checked) He does good deals on multiple items...

Re: Rear Suspension differences on 33
If only it were my left! Looks like i'm stuck with the anti-w**k device for 12 weeks. Both wrists are pretty mangled after years of BMX, so it's familiar territory sadly. Looking on the bright side, at least it's cold and dark out, so is unlikely i'd have done much to the car over the festive/new ye...

Re: Rear Suspension differences on 33
Word Up Shrew, What both you, and Veesix, are saying suggests it could probably be considered an upgrade. My memory of a 1.5 IE i once had was that it seemed to handle better in standard form compared to the S2 i got straight after. Had figured the difference was down to the S3 being a heavier car.....

Rear Suspension differences on 33
Hi All, I've got a G reg 33 Ti - a late S2.. However, it appears that the floorpan is possibly S3, so it's maybe a bit of a Frankenstein edition? Underneath, there is a set of unused locating points for another pair of tie rods between the chassis, and the rear axle (it also has the lower location p...
