1350 race engine
iv got a 1350 race engine going cheap if anyone's interested? Comes with a balanced crank and rods, pocketed pistons and standard heads with race cams. it'll need shells etc and a rebuild as its in bits at the moment. Apparently it was built to go in a sidecar and only did a couple of races, interna...

Re: To deck a block
Good work there Ali , thanks a lot :D Here's one for you!!! If i wanted to use 1.5 flat heads on a 1.7 engine how big would i need to machine the compression chambers into the heads to get 11:1? Sounds like a silly question i know but if i machine 1.7mm off the block faces the solid type alquati man...

Re: To deck a block
Interesting what you suggest about the 1.5mm spacers between the head and camshaft housing Lauren. I have some wild cams with 11mm lift I didn't want to use for road use, I wonder if spacing the cam housing 1mm would decrease the lift to 10mm and therefore making the cams a bit tamer. Still got the ...

Re: To deck a block
I don't know the volume Ali, i have a 1.5 engine and a set of 1.7 pistons. The engine is good but has low compression so i plan on having it bored out to make 1598cc. i had an engine done like this in a car i had years ago and it was a cracking little engine. It had 1mm taken off the block so had a ...

To deck a block
Am looking to build a fast road 1600cc and was wondering how much I'd need to take off the block to raise the compression ration from 9-1 to 11-1? any ideas guys?

Re: replacement alfasud keys?
I have a load of blank door keys which are the same shape and size as the original alfa ones. As for the ignition keys iv bought a few from a company in australia, cant remember their name off hand but they'll be easy enough to find. I think i bought four keys from them as the postage was the same. ...

Be great to find the original thick rubber braided pipe, iv found that the braided petrol pipe you can buy on ebay and like is very similar to the original but the rubber part is thinner. I had to nip the jubilee clips every year as the pipe harden and began to leak. Im not one for originality so mu...

Nice to see youv got the engine built up Liam, it'll be a flyer am sure. One of the queries i had about the car was its drivability round town, Paul said his wife use to drive it and it was very usable round town, it still pulled smooth even at low revs Hey Simon do you mind telling me what the SC w...

Re: 40th Birthday !
Thanks for the info guys, seems anything registered before 7th Jan will be tax exempt as it can be assumed it was built before dec 31st. This is good new for the white sud as it was registered on 01/01/1978 i thought it may have to wait an extra year!

Doesn't tax exemption go from the vehicles build date if it can be proved? otherwise just the registration date?

id replace the speedo cable if i was you, i had an intermittent fault on my speedo, after sending the clocks away to be checked it turned out to be a worn drive at the speedo end of the cable, a good used cable from kev and its been perfect ever since. Yes jan theyr justsuds springs but i had to put 20mm spacers up front as the drop from them wasnt equal. hi keith hows things? After much deliberation of what tyres to use i ended up using the 185/60 yokohama A539 i had spare. Ideally i think 185/65 might have been a better choice for a bit more rol...

Re: 1978 White S1 Sud Ti - Anglia Classic Car Auctions
Sounds crazy doesn't it? but at the same auction a peugeot 205 gti went for 25k, a 2.8i capri made 40k absolutely crazy money but its out there and it keeps happening at every auction! All be it with only the very best cars! Am not sure there's a big enough following for our alfasuds to get anywhere...
