Re: Wheel spacers and lowering
Slotting the bolt holes at the bottom of the struts allows you to bring the camber back to where it should be after lowering a sud. Dropping the height kicks out the front wheels quite a bit, which can cause heavy steering

Re: Big Valve Heads
Am i right in thinking that if you put a 1.7 crank in a 1.5 block you'll lose the 2.5mm clearance at the top of the bore? So if you use 1.5 flat heads on it you'll end up with virtually no compression chamber and a ratio of around 13:1. If so how do you over come this? Would you not need to use cham...

Re: Valve lengths
It looks like 1.7 mech head valves are longer than the hydraulic ones liam. I'll know for sure when I get these hydraulic heads stripped this week.
I bought some mech heads years ago and I just want to make sure they've come with the correct valves before I send all the bits to the builder.

Re: Valve lengths
Done some digging this morning shrew, 1.7 IE valves are 93mm long. So am thinking these 94mm valves are maybe correct as they came with a pair of stripped down 1.7 mechanical heads. Taking into account the compression chamber in the 1.7 mechanical heads theyr defiantely going to be a different lengt...

Valve lengths
Does anyone know the valve lengths between different motors? I measured some today and got 92mm with 38mm diameter which i think are from a 95hp twin lobe motor. The 2nd set are 94mm with 40mm diameter and supposedly from a 1.7 mechanical lifted head. Am thinking that maybe these 94mm valves are fro...

Re: Swapping single lobe cams for twin lobe
No iv got no idea what it produces sorry. But the block has been decked to a point where the pistons come up level with it and the pistons have some serious pocketing. Must be running some serious compression. Iv got a modified dizzy that came with it but again specs are unknown

Re: Swapping single lobe cams for twin lobe
It's sitting in the back of my garage, internally it looks well engineered and pretty much brand new. Apparently it was built for a side car racer.

Re: Swapping single lobe cams for twin lobe
Thanks guys am ideally looking for single lobed fast road. Iv got full 1.5 race heads with cams but there no good to me, got them with a 1350 race engine a few years ago. Ideally I'd like to find some second hand C&B fast road cams, either that or am gona have to sell a kidney to fund this build :ro...

Swapping single lobe cams for twin lobe
Am looking into options for building a fast road 1.7 engine, one thing that's going to be expensive are the cams. At £600 for C+B fast road cams! I already have some twin lobed fast road cams and was wondering if it's possible to swap these cams and carriers for the single lobed ones. Considering th...

Re: Annoying drivers door.
Its an easy fix, the faffing about was trying to work out why the latch wouldn't hold the door fully shut. It closed ok on the first click but wouldn't click for the second "fully closed" position. Leaving the door standing proud. To test if it's the spring open your door and turn the latch by hand,...

Theres a couple of alfasud boss's on ebay, the second one looks to be the same depth as the one i just sold, it was an extra deep one that brings the steering wheel closer to the driver. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Luisi-steering-wheel-boss-hub-Alfa-Romeo-AlfaSud-Arna-/192265880799?hash=item2cc3f084df...

Hi am looking for a 1.7 block. You say it just needs a strip and clean, does that mean the block internals are good and it doesn't need bearings or rings etc?
Have you heard it running?
