Re: IMPORTANT MAINTENANCE - POSSIBLE OUTAGE & INTERUPTION
Clearly you guys have been busy behind the scenes - great work! I agree with the addition of 156 Series models; in the same vein, will you be considering a space for 916 Spiders/GTVs as these are older than the 156/147/GT and very much in that same budget and needing much fettling state now? keep up...

Re: my new purchase
Now you are getting serious, all that modern stuff proving to easy? ;) I trust you've watched that Car SOS episode where they did one of these? Hope your engine is good as they seem to be pretty rare. Mind you despite the rear damage it looks 100 times better than the 2 they had at Anglia car auctio...

Recognised that contact plate You need to keep it clean for good contact, I recall mine melting on my S3 when resistance built up. Just caught up with this thread - awesome work, stunning car!

Re: 30 years of Alfas, well almost!
New genuine parts regulator arrived last week. After my earlier recce, it was straight forward to strip the door card, and following some helpful YouTube guides, it was easy to remove the old regulator - yes the cable had snapped. Reassembly was easy, much easier than changing the regulator on the F...

Re: 30 years of Alfas, well almost!
Mito passed its first MOT, no problems today and to celebrate, on the way back it decided to snap the window regulator cable - so parts ordered and I'll be tinkering with that next weekend!

Re: integrale, fogs or blanks
Will you be driving it at night? As many new cars use the fogs as 'Steering Lights' - though not as sophisticated as the Citroen DS steering lights, If you keep the fogs they can come in handy giving more peripheral light if you are driving down poorly lit and marked country roads just to keep the v...

Re: 30 years of Alfas, well almost!
Thanks for that, I'm part of the AROC Mito register so should have thought of that!! Yesterday I took the door card off to have a look, You Tube is a helpful tool! I couldn't see anything obvious, so carefully lowered the window, it was a little reluctant to go back up at first, but after a few runs...

Re: 30 years of Alfas, well almost!
Just coming up to 3 years of ownership for the Mito, and for the most part it has been trouble free and reliable. However, as the 3rd anniversary looms, it has started to develop some typical Alfa foibles! First was the clunking steering, which turns out to be a common fault for all FCA models on th...

Re: 30 years of Alfas, well almost!
Looks like deep pockets were needed, the Ferrari 330 and the Maser went for big money despite their condition, but the 33 racer was very affordable. Details on the ACA website.

Re: 30 years of Alfas, well almost!
Looks like a few more Italian rat-look/restoration projects are coming up at King Lynn's Anglian Car Auctions classic sale in January - Ferrari 330 - very nice if you have a deep pocket, a Maserati 3500 GT in amongst the usual Jag E type fare. Also a good selection of Americana and a couple of inter...

Alfa 33 Racer at Anglia Car Auctions next Classic Sale
Just spotted that there is a green 1990 33 race car listed in the catalogue for the next Classic Auction at Anglia Car Auctions 26 Jan 2019 sale. Anyone on here's car? Details on the ACA website.

Re: 30 years of Alfas, well almost!
It's interesting that with all the exotica you see at classic car gatherings it's the rare remaining everyday car that used to be such a common sight that catches the attention, especially it in its day it was problematic, and taken for granted. How often do you see an Allegro, chevette, MkI Cavalie...

Re: 30 years of Alfas, well almost!
Too true, I'm contemplating something quite different, especially as classic land rovers are silly money these days, so am considering an old Brit, like a standard 8/10, Austin A40, Wolseley or some such......

Not one of my Alfas, but this weekend we said good bye to a long term member of the family, namely our trusty 2000 Land Rover Discovery TD5, owned for 16 years, almost to the day. Proceeds, will go towards sorting the Freelander which is the only landrover left in the fleet, though some may go towar...

Re: 30 years of Alfas, well almost!
Hi Kev, It's a 1.6 JTDM, I tested a 1.3JTDM before which whilst economical was a bit gutless, the 1.6 is more torquey and has a fair turn of speed, whilst still delivering 50+ mpg and for £30 tax. And although Diesel, it's quite refined, certainly quieter than the GT which suffered a lot of tyre noi...

Good idea to check the Sud front strut top nuts, we had one work loose on our mk3 QV when the Mrs was driving it, fortunately she was only doing 20 when it finally came off, but I'd been motorway driving in it the day before.......

Re: 30 years of Alfas, well almost!
Its been a while since I added to this post, so thought it would be worth an update. Had the Mito for 2 years now, done about 22,000 trouble free and economical miles mainly by the Mrs these days: averaging 50mpg, better on a run. Its had one real service, the first at 12,000 miles was more an oppor...

Re: Kev's workshop projects
Kev, Not sure what it went for, we only stayed for the first 60 odd lots, before the fumes got a bit much, but they'll post the results on the website. My daughter was interested in the Standard 10, but that was a wreck that probably only someone with your skills would consider. We looked at the A35...

Re: Kev's workshop projects
Sounds about par for the course of GT ownership, mine needed all that and 2 new steering racks, oil cooler and an injector, lovely car, but the most unreliable one I've owned for many years, even a 55 year old S2 Landy gave me less grief!

I see that Anglia Car Auctions have a 155 lined up for their next Auction too, I guess like the 75 has the 155 will begin to find its niche as a future classic soon.
