Re: new and not-so-new

Suds always got the duff parking at National Alfa Day You're not wrong there - I remember NAD at Newby Hall a few years back, Alfasuds were supposed to have pride of place (an anniversary, but I can't remember which one), I thought they would be lined up either side of the drive leading to the main...

i dont really understand either why they dropped the boxer motor and went with the belt munching t spark engine ... In my business we call it NIH - "Not Invented Here". When Fiat acquired Alfa Romeo they phased out the boxer in favour of their own small engine. I remember at the time there was a lo...

Thanks Mark - I've had to do my fair share of welding on the Green Machine, but not so much repairs as re-design and re-configuring!

Love the green engine block and calipers :D

One question - did you use special caliper paint, or the same stuff you used on the engine? VHT stuff maybe?

Rebuild looks superb!

Probably wear in the joint bearings. Also, I think the shaft is two-piece, there is an intermediate bearing.

Re: Alfa to start making rwd cars again

i would like to think that a return to rear wheel drive would make cars easier to work on, but then with the can-bus electrics these days its not going to make any difference. it won't be long before bonnets are sealed, and you will need a laptop and manufacturers engineer code to even open it! I a...

Re: GTV6. Prop-shaft rebalance

It's quite a big problem for transaxle cars, because unlike a conventional RWD propshaft, the Alfetta shaft runs at engine speed through to the rear mounted transaxle. So balancing this shaft is much more critical. Hopefully this will cure the vibration problem (fingers crossed!)

Some fantastic quality repair work going on here - looks great! I do like the 105 series Alfas (Montreals mostly), they certainly have style. I can't quite make out the wheels on the original photos - are they Campagnolo turbines? The wheels are called 'Mille Miglia', they have a '1000' embossed on...

Re: FMJ820Y

Looking very nice indeed I must say. I guess blended joints without pre-fabricated collectors minimises disruption to the gas flow by reducing the number of joints from 3 down to 1; it has to make a difference :D I just used pre-fab parts from Jetex to make my system - but I must admit I had bigger ...

Dashboard Blues...

So, after 5 years of continuous use, with just the odd hiatus, I finally stripped out my old dashboard in June 2012. It's something I had been meaning to do for a long time, but the scale of the disruption put me off. Then the Nova club, celebrating its fortieth anniversary, was invited to participa...

I agree with all of the above, but would add another design factor that is common to all moderns - they are designed exclusively for the comfort and convenience of the passengers, not the drivers.
