Now I can only speak for the Sprint, but I gather they are identical to the ones used on Peugeot 205GTi made by - I think - SIEM. The carriers are different though

Happy new year and thank you ;) Car is off road for winter and back in intensive care as the bracket that the panhard rod bolts to sheared in half! It didn’t fully detach itself thankfully but was damned close to it. Gearbox surgery is also in the plan for the next few months too..... The front seat...

Re: SPRINT RESURRECTION
Stesco, thanks. I managed a quick visit to AMS to discuss the engine. All the crank journals are out of round, two main bearing journals have slight scoring, one of the conrod journals is scored significantly. Crank regrind circa £180 inc VAT, then bearings on top. I think they need +.2 for the con...

Poor situation and I hope it all works out in the end. Stressful too. Hope the lies being told are exposed and the prosecution then turns the other way.

I think I have asked plenty without ever showing anybody the end result on here. Anyway, I absolutely adore this little car. Still some jobs to do/revisit to do better, but am pretty damned please of the outcome all told, although if I were repeating the escapade I would perhaps kept it more origina...

Sore one on your son.... Hope he's OK.
On the engine front, I have a 1.7 sitting here which you are more than welcome to have to cannibalise for parts if required.

How does this jetting compare to others? I am thinking of lifting idle to 55 as am 5 turns out on mixture and still have this pulsing at around 3000rpm Have not driven the car again since I cleaned them all out with paraffin and my compressor, so maybe its solved. Also had a slightly sticking needle...

Re: Twin carbs
The problem may lie with the inlet manifold, some are very thin between the inlet tract and the counter bore for the mounting nut, so that the gasket may leak air into the inlet at small thottle opening when there is max. vacuum in the inlet. I have cured this in the past by removing the stud that ...

I am just doing a visual on the spark plugs to get an idea. One bank (Cylinders 2 and 4) the plugs are a perfect light brown colour. Bank 1 and 3 are a silvery grey colour so obviously lean. Air correctors are all closed, I turned the mixtures out another half turn before driving back 80 miles and j...

Old cars being people together.....
Just want to tell a wee tale from the other night which made me smile. Took the Sprint out for a quick whirl as I do as I think cars should move not sit stationary. Anyway, stupid arse here mis-judged it and ran out of fuel but thankfully only a short walk from the nearest petrol station.....🤦♂️ Wa...

Thanks VeeSix and all. Floats are fine on both sides. I have one side running ok -plugs are a nice silver grey - and the other lean. Accompanied with a bit of pinking -a sort of ting ting ting sound on over run. It’s getting better though. I am not going to get too hung up on how many turns out the ...

i have Denso W22 plugs on currently - they were new and are a three electrode design. I also have a set of Bosch WR78X available which I may try, however yes perhaps I should seek out the NGK BP6ES and try that.

Hi Dave - yes I used that guide when I first set up, it was invaluable. I also have a pal who has set up so many carbs check everything I have done too. Re: Twin carbs
Just trying to get it to run spot on - it pulls great just at a steady cruise there is this 'pulsing' that is annoying - put even a light pressure on the throttle it disappears. May try blowing the jets out perhaps in case it has some crud following winter lay up. Also playing on my mind is number o...

WhatsApp Image 2023-07-26 at 16.28.18.jpg Another thread resurrection folks. Mine passed MoT ok but was undoubtedly lean, measuring 0.97 according to the tester. Pulls great, cleanly apart from a strange 'pulsing' sensation on a steady cruise. I figure that pulling the plugs and checking after a ru...

I haven’t opened the box up yet, but the one on the car has the number 107 200 on the end where the selector rod enters it ( could be 206 or 208 too, it’s hard to make out) My ‘spare’ box has 133 724 on it. Do these numbers indicate which ratio gearbox it is? Edit. Picture attached of selector end b...

Gearbox query
Good afternoon all. I am just thinkinng ahead here to the winter jobs, so not something I am going to deal with immediately. Re: WEBER IDF 40 question
thread resurrection - hope you don’t mind. First of all engine is 1.7 8V with twin 40 Weber IDF Car runs great, pulls cleanly from low rpm and revs generally cleanly with no splutters or stutters other than being a bit of a pig when cold. However, on motorway on a steady cruise I get a strange pulsi...

Wheels and spacers conundrum
Car has a tendency to squirm and tramline a bit, not bad but enough to keep your wits about you. Tracking set to parallel. Standard wheels weree 5.5J 14" with 39mm offset and 185/60-14 tyres. I have fitted 6J 15" with 50mm offset but 15mm spacer - therefore net 35mm offset. Tyres are 195/50-15. I th...

Re: Plugs and leads
A bit of a thread resurrection here folks I have now installed Denso W20EPBR-S plugs which I gather are all but the same as the Golden Lodge 25HL.. I did have Bosch WR78X but I now know the gap on these is wrong at 1.1mm (hence the X designation). Both of these options are equivalent to NGK BP6ES. S...

I improvised one out a vaccum cleaner belt. lets see how it goes. The plunger foro the compensator valve was then able to come down about 5mm to meet the activation rod. I assume that is about all the movement there is in these then?? Just to get this right in my own head, if I were to open the blee...

Re: Brake compensator rubber bands
Mine is missing this rubber band. Does anybody know the diameter of it? Wondering if a double looped vacuum cleaner belt will do the job.
Another query - can the compensator valve be pressed by hand? Mine is new, but it will not budge if I press the plunger
