Re: Paint removal query

Have ordered a couple of bags of the fine beads and we'll see how it goes. My thoughts are to strip and etch prime the bonnet, tailgate, wings and doors before doing the remainder of the shell. Using a fairly standard home compressor running at about 7 bar. Do you think it is worth putting some pain...

Paint removal query

Has anyone used glass grit for removing paint from the cars panels? If so which is better, fine (0.2-0.5mm) or medium (0.5-1.0mm)? And does it work effectively. Or is soda a better medium for doing the job.

Mark - you are a legend. Thank you. Huge help. I suspect the front will be less important than the rear arrangement.

Re: Brake regulator/compensator

That's the very fella :D . Big favour - could you please let me know what one goes where? I suspect the in/out using the bigger nut head will go to the one side of the car. As I say the Haynes manual is very unclear as to this. Also which side is the in, and which is the out. Should have photograph...

Re: Brake regulator/compensator

Got the last one at AlfaShop new and boxed. Boxed as a TRW part but was a Bosch in the box. Does anyone have a 'plumbing' diagram as the Haynes manual is pretty unclear as to what side goes where. I suspect the ins/outs using the bigger 12mm fitting go to the one side of the car but can anyone confi...

Brake regulator/compensator

Can anyone advise where to get ones paws on a brake compensator/regulator? Part number is 60501737, and it's the 4 pipe version. Dealers still list it as available from Italy but I'm a skinflint and won't pay £130 plus VAT. Alfa Service have them too but again £100 plus. Any suggestions as to where ...

Lost a couple of bits - help

In an act of complete balloonery, I seem to have misplaced both the clutch release bearing and clutch release fork. I have probably put them somewhere so safe that I can't remember where . . . . Anyway, does anyone have one knocking about they would be willing to part with? Must remember to be more ...

Brake line lengths

Hi Folks Due to having cut and discarded my old brake lines, does anyone know the length of the 2 brake lines that run under the car? I intend to make them up off the roll and bend to shape as I install, but obviously due to the twisty, winding route the pipes take it makes it bamn near impossible t...

Not P4 ones in so far as I am aware. I purchased from Alfa Service and the same part number was listed for Sud, Sprint and 33 up to & inc. 905 series. The only different one was the 907 series 33. The other ones I bought from Italy and they are listed as being for the Sprint and Sud. They are identi...

Tight bush . . . . .

Now that I have captivated your attention with a catchy thread title, the problem is altogether more prosaic . . . . Although lube will likely still be involved in the solution  I purchased - from 2 separate sources just in case - replacement rear trailing arm bushes as the ones that came ...

Part de-listed. Equivalent?

HI folks. Looking for the clips that go on the underside to hold brake pipes and fuel lines in place. I had been given the part number as 60503819, however these are now obsolete and no alternative exists. 2 questions I suppose - does anyone know of an equivalent or does anyone have some knocking ar...

same here. bottom of spring facing inner wing. however you end up aligning them they never seem to sit nice, always under tension somewhere. Exactly what I have done. The bottom of the spring is at positioned at 45 degrees to the steering arm, facing inward the inner wing. If you follow the directi...

Re: Front suspension re-assembly

I'm afraid I dont know what you are on about :? The top plate turns and goes wherever you want it to. What I do is simply look under the car before fitting them and wee where the deepest position is. I align that position with the highest position of the top mount, and up it goes. Simply slides in,...

Re: 916 GTV seats for a Sud?

I did it without quite as much faff.

M8 Rivnuts, drilled into the floor and tack welded above to hold in place. Allows you to use the GTV seats with no complicated farting about, and also keeps the existing Sud mounting points in place just in case . . .

Front suspension re-assembly

Hi Folks Have a long-ongoing Sprint resto project, mine is a 1988 on F plate. Bought new front shock recently so obviously dismantled the front suspension. However getting it all aligned when putting it back together is proving a bit tricky. I know the spring pans are sided, but just can't seem to g...
