Re: Front brake discs and calipers
Here's a few links for Commodore calipers who will sell international. These are new or fully reconditioned and spare parts would be available as needed. Email them for shipping costs. I can pull used calipers off cars cheap but shipping needs to be worked out ? VT, VX, VY, VZ calipers are the same....

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
Thats fantastic Ricky I really really want to do that with my Sud me thinks. (33 16v outboard brakes currently) just got to find them darn calipers here in blighty, awkward! :( I could pull a pair of used calipers off a Commodore approx $100, seal kit $20 cheap pads like I'm using $30 but there are...

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
Just sharing the 99% finished brake conversion. The last thing to do is fit the Alfa 75 master cylinder, I have it but just need to fit it. Been driving it too. What can I say freaking AWESOME stopping power  High speeds just get wiped away with the tyres scrabbling for traction with good fee...

Re: My Sprint Rebuild.
Hi shrew thanks for the reply. The pic should show what's the problem. It's the bush below the fire wall. 2 of the inner bushes should be 53mm in length. When you go to bolt the suspension arm with poly bush to the car it deforms the body mount to hold the bush tight. So what some people have done i...

Re: My Sprint Rebuild.
Hey all, I'm after some advise about (Power Flex bushes) I bought a while back. My car was driving just fine with the original rubber bushes but thought I will buy poly bushes any way. After fitting them I found the car was driving twitchy and would follow wear ruts in the road, as you can imagine t...

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
The seller was using a 25mm stud conversion spacer on a Holden/Isuzu Gemini and wasn't sure of the offset but I was sure they'd fit because for cars here only cars like Suds/33 had 4x98. I'm lucky to find them.

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
Hey all just tuning in for a update. I have what I need to bolt it up. It's all looking good, in fact putting it all together it's closer to a perfect fit than my earlier measurements by 1 or 2mm. Like a gift from above some big 4x98 wheels come up on ebay. Had been looking for ages so when I saw th...

Doh!! Didn't read closely enough, shows my attention span
You could still use a tape or string against the car running it point to point where you want the lines to run.

Re: Brake line lengths
I think you should remove the lines from the car then it'll be easy to work your way along them with a tape measure or a roll of string then measure that.

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
G,day, I emailed the Rota importer in WA 3000km away and the Grid V is not available in the size I want. But the wheel I posted above is available with a raw alloy lip finish and painted centre like the pic you posted. I'm thinking about it what I prefer but at the moment still going for full black ...

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
I've got some disc and pad backing measurement's. 22mm for the disc I plan to use. +6.5mm for each pad backing plate. =35mm There's a 32mm disc gap in the caliper carrier. So assuming both pads were evenly worn down to metal they would only just be held in. Should be enough as long as I repl...

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
Actually looking again at the 19mm machined 33 disc in the twin pot caliper. I'm looking at the caliper and disc out of the car. When the caliper carrier and disc are bolted in there's no chance of the disc touching the carrier and even less chance of a pad falling out. So that's something less to w...

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
one word of caution guys that may have been overlooked, as i've not spotted any reference to it yet. the calipers you intend using, make sure they are suitable for a disc of very similar thickness. so, if you are thinking of using the fiat coupe discs which are 22mm thick when new you need to make ...

Re: My S1 Sud Ti
I think you will enjoy keeping the 1186cc engine Kev - they are a nice revvy unit and even in SC form were good enough to get the Sud to at least 90mph...and the South Yorkshire police confirmed that to me on the M1 late one evening  Too true and if the road is long and straight enough they'l...

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
I'm also waiting to see what happens. I too want to use my 15" wheels on my racing sprint which has front suspension and brakes of the 16v. Those brakes are rubbish for the track where you need late and efficient braking. I always heard that Vauxhaul V6 calipers would do even with standard discs, b...

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
Yep I'm a pig and a gluten for punishment :? Good thinking about elongating the holes, I think I can handle that but I'll get the discs in my hands first to see how much I can go to the centre of the disc and check for any issues. I could take second hand calipers off cars myself with hoses and ship...

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
Ok back again, it's seem I've become a guinea pig. It seem everyone on a thread on ABB forum that got me started on this is using the older single pot caliper and a modified Magna disc, all smaller than what I'm doing. Only one guy has VT Commodore calipers and he bought the car like that and does n...

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
Ok I took some measurements I got 170mm to the outside of caliper, 145mm to outside of pad and 8mm spacers caliper to hub or less? but take these measurements with a grain of salt I did it quickly at night. I might find something new working on it tomorrow. The Holden and Vauxhall are the same car a...

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
Yep that's the calipers. I'm a newbe at shipping, I think I have to weigh them to know. You did get the Vauxhall VXR over there same as the Holden Monaro here. There's awesome up grade kits for those on ebay with prices to match. I theory they will bolt straight onto a 33. The catch I haven't worked...

Re: Front brake discs and calipers
Slightly off track unless you go to larger wheels. I just today made steps to upgrading my 33 brakes. I bought some second hand Commodore VT twin piston calipers for $80 and trial fitted them. These are fitted to large 6 cylinder sedans and are the same as V8 Commodores only lacking the fins. They b...

Re: My Sprint Rebuild.
Did you use a heat gun on your arches Ricky? it helps preserve the paint no end. I kept plenty of general heat in the 33 arches and wings, and got quite a subtle flare from them aswell as a complete fold in of the lip. _________________________________________________________________________________...
