Re: Engine mods

:D Shrew has covered most of the points there! For a fast road/trackday engine and if you want to go carbs or throttle bodies then select from the following or have them all on a carefully built engine:- Lightened flywheel Omex management (or similar) Fast road cams (Catcams do a range) - relatively...

Re: Cheeky Sud

Sud driver was Pete Cate in Dave Litchfield's car. A very lightweight car at 650kg with full rear wings also in fibreglass (the UK kits were moulded this way - like yours Shrew). Pete is currently an Aston Martin semi-works driver competing on the German VLN series.

Re: Snetterton 19/20 Sept

I remember that race Ian, Silverstone with one eye closed was far from ideal - I pulled into the pitlane to get the grit out of my eye - my Dad was so relieved it wasn't a car issue!

Re: Snetterton 19/20 Sept

Hi Simon, That remains one of the issues of multi-class racing, the larger engined cars generally have the ability to produce more power, offsetting their often heavier mass and in many cases exceeding the mass penalty. As you will have encountered it will often make the slower big class cars fast d...

Tim - here's the Rockingham link - so if it is your Sprint it's relevant! The uploader of the vid was JAB - that may fit the James Bate name I recalled. Future Classics not Tin Tops though :)

Re: Old vids on you tube

Watching the races from 96 onwards is what got me into racing, the cars, the sound, awesome. It would be hard to choose a favourite but I liked the red 75 3 litre, car no. 5 Sad as I am, I think I may have spotted my Sprint again in the last link, it was originally red before yellow and has been a ...

Re: Screamer.

It was driven by Jonathan Walter but it didn't get used much in the UK, I think they (Bridge Motorsport) tended to take it over to Spa and Zandvoort a couple of times a year. I think part of the kit (probably the arches) was Alfastyl.

Re: Screamer.

I doubt you could build the engine and box for 12k, never mind the rest of the car. I hope it stays racing, just the sound of these cars makes them worth it. I remember when about 6 of them used to be racing, as well as a couple of fast suds and Tim Lewis Sprint. Wonder what happened to them all (B...

Haha, I've only ever seen 20 mins of Jeremy Kyle - it was full of UK Rednecks so I get the dentist reference! One of the couples on there were much less pleasant versions of Harry Enfields' Wayne and Waynetta Slob!

Anyways, glad the NHS has been good so far, here's to a speed recovery :)

Alfa 33 Chassis Number Breakdown?

Does anyone have a chassis number breakdown/series production list for the 33? These have been pretty useful for the Sud/Sprint but I haven't seen one for the 33 and a Google search has so far been fruitless.

I'll add to the 'Blimey Shrew!' list! Cripes, it looks grim but at least you are now in the right hands (pun intended). Seriously, hope it all goes well tomorrow and can be sorted with or without the cast - the important thing is it gets sorted! Keep us informed!

Re: Alfa Championship at Croft 12/13 September

Thanks Kev - definitely need softer tyres for next year, not many options but following a hopeful lead at the moment. Many manufacturers list something suitable but rarely do they have stock and not one currently at the right compound! Fingers crossed over the winter! I could have got away with wets...

Re: Alfa Championship at Croft 12/13 September

An ultimately good weekend's racing though it could have been very different! The weather played a starring role - awful weather on Saturday with rain, wind, hail - right up until about an hour before our race (5.15 Saturday evening)! Qualifying went well enough on a wet track (on wets, easy choice)...

Alfa Championship at Croft 12/13 September

The Alfa Championship visits Croft next weekend for the first time since 2005, which is a shame as it's a great circuit! I've added a link to the Alfa Championship site below. I'm the only 33/flat four there but the modified entry is very strong with a combination of 3.8 V6's and 2.0 turbo 147's/156...

Re: Compression Ratio and fuel

For n/a race cars on pump based fuel, the higher octane just gives a little extra knock protection - for noticeable performance gains you have to go proper race fuel which is blended very carefully and has a higher oxygen content. For turbo's it's always been a little easier to measure measurable ga...

It's had loads of views and no interest to date so I'll get it on the dreaded E-Bay! It'll probably end up on a Saxo which will spend it's evenings in a McDonalds car park with trays under its rear wheels for added oversteer! :D

Re: Steel crank - who bought it?

It was way back in 2012 and I don't actually remember who bought it, we had quite a clearout back then and bits went everywhere. Just to clarify, with 87mm pistons (1700) it gave 1660cc as it was a short stroke crank. Whoever bought it never asked any more questions so it's either in an engine and r...
