Thanks Kev,
Cylinder no.3 has very low compression and oil is getting past so it's a hone/rings at the very least.
I've done a search and seen full gasket sets on the German Alfa service site but where will I get rings and shell bearings from?
Thanks
Adam

Engine rebuild
Evening All I'm looking to have a 16v lump rebuilt but I am concerned that decent quality parts may be unobtainium I have spoken with a couple of Alfa specialists who no longer offer this service because of parts availability at reasonable cost for example to do a decent job AHM specify a crank repl...

Re: 16V cambelts and hoses
Hello Adie, Apologies in advance for the photos - black hoses in a black car in a dark garage.. For the stretches that go to and from the heater matrix I used flexible silicone tubing that I bought from ASH in Scotland. On the drivers side it looks like this:- IMG_2270.JPG with one of these to tee o...

Re: 16V cambelts and hoses
Or you could fit a remote electric water pump as I have - I'll be running my motor in anger in a few weeks so I'll advise if it is adequate - or not..
I have also fitted silicone hoses so I will post a couple of photos this weekend
Thanks
Adam

Air Bag Recall
I received a letter from Subaru today recalling my car for a passenger side air bag replacement, with the advice not to allow passengers to sit in the front seat. I found this American blog, which may or may not relate to cars sold in the UK (other than mine) but it makes for pretty concerning readi...

Here's mine; not a good photo as its a black car in a dark garage.. From here I think (it was a long time ago though). http://autoelectricalpartsuk.co.uk/products/Lighting/LED_Indicator_Lamps They are LED so need an in line ballast resistor which is a couple of quid and have a thick rubbery backing ...

Re: 1500ti restoration. Ex racer
I have some small, low profile, surface mount rectangular ones that fit in the concave channel in the front panel directly below the headlamp, if that makes sense. Being that shape they are more like the standard ones I'm out in the garage tomorrow, will post a photo and try to remember where I got ...

I have the same set up as Kammatic with koni yellows for the inserts.i A word of note, I got the top mounts from compbrake as they list the 33 in their catalogue The first set they sent had the bolt holes spaced incorrectly (possibly 33 Imola pattern) The outside diameter of the second set was too h...

Re: ANYONE HAVE ANY OF THESE?
Hello Shrew, I have four (I think) of these originally from a 155 Q4 They are 15" 4 stud and something like +49.5 ET so don't fit on a sud without spacers. The fake plastic bolts have been removed and they were wet painted and definitely need a refurb. I'll send you some photos if you are interested...

Re: My brake upgrade
I've checked my calculation and the piston area increase is 7% not double as you have to count a sliding single caliper as if it is two pistons. So we have a 7% increase in piston area and a 7.5 % increase in radius, which whilst not earth shattering is worth having. The set up is lighter even with ...

Re: My brake upgrade
The discs are fitted to the hubs with a custom made adaptor.
I made up a dummy in wood, checked the measurements and clearances (three times..) and then got a local engineering company to cnc a pair out of aluminium. It's probably more chunky than it needs to be but it does the job.

Re: My brake upgrade
The calipers used are Wilwood Powerlite four pot with 1.38" pistons.
With both nearly a doubling in piston area and disc radius increased 7.5% the braking effect should be increased over standard. As stated before, this will fit under 13 inch revos with no fouling issues.

Re: My brake upgrade
The disc needed a slight chamfer machining on the inner edge to clear the hub lugs - I have heard that Punto GT discs may not need this work doing.

Tim,
My thread is still somewhere on the dark side it's called Trackday Alfasud..
I have the photos on my pc and will upload them for completeness tomorrow.
I'll put them on a different post to save getting in the way of Bryan's thread.
Thanks,
Adam

Re: New front brakes for 2015
Tim,
I have 257mm vented alfa 164 discs and 4 pot wilwood powerlite calipers and ferodo ds2500 pads on my hubs.
13 x 6 Revolution RFXs fit over them with no clearance issues.
I can't tell you how they perform as I have not tried them yet.
Thanks,
Adam
