Re: Paint removal query
as shrew says, the knotted wheel is great for getting the rubberised stuff off. nothing short of a proffesional blaster will shift it, not enough flow with any normal compressor. my weapon of choice, just be careful, they bite!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100mm-4-TWIST-KNOT-WIRE-WHEEL-BRUSH-FOR-ANGL...

I love the letters N.O.S. Recent spot on ebay was a batch of old 105 series panels and they were only an hour away in Barrhead, I was over there like a shot with a wad of cash. P9270019.JPG The two T shaped parts are the structure under the front floor sections, on the drivers side this is also the ...

Re: GT Junior Rebuild Thread
SO now we move onto wheel arches. A tricky one this, coupes come in early low arch form and later high arch. A subtle difference that is hard to spot unless you are looking for it. Mine is an early step front with the low arches. You can by wings, half wings and outer arch repairs for both styles bu...

Next I wanted to get the trailing arm mounting tied back onto the sill with a new jacking point. A bit of plating was required first after I removed the remains of the old jacking point. I've had a bit of time off the car to do some major work in the Garden, but got started again this week. I've begun work on the other sill now, starting with the A post. I removed a small section of the sill structure here and found it actually has 3 outer sills at the moment :o This is the first si...

Alfaholics do some really nice/expensive stuff for the 105 series, maybe it could be made to fit?

It's me eyesight. Worn glasses most my life, recently I have had to start taking my glasses off for close up work like welding. Unfortunately without my glasses everything further than 6 inches from my face is a blur. Optician said it's just my age - git. He did say he could do me a set of glasses w...

Some fantastic quality repair work going on here - looks great! I do like the 105 series Alfas (Montreals mostly), they certainly have style. I can't quite make out the wheels on the original photos - are they Campagnolo turbines? The wheels are called 'Mille Miglia', they have a '1000' embossed on...

Re: GT Junior Rebuild Thread
It's true that panel supply is great for these cars, a lot of cars that would be scrapped are restorable including this one. I don't think the prices are all that bad though when you actually see the quality of them. The six panels I have just fitted to repair the cill on one side have all gone on w...

I think they are coming around addressing the weight issue now. Compare curb weights of 145/146, 147 and Giulietta and I think you will find that like for like the Giulietta is a smidging lighter despite having a lot more stuff in it and being considerably safer. I think the 159/Brera models were an...

Is that an original set of graphics you have or did you get some reproductions made for you?
When I was doing mine I had mix of different coloured graphics but not enough of the colour I needed for my car but what I had was an excellent start for a printing company to copy them.

Sounds fab, have you given any thought to the Alfa 75 TS engine conversion - becoming a popular upgrade and a relatively easy 170 bhp to be had? What front brakes did you have in mind - Alfaholics 4 pots or from another make or model of car? Have to say I favour the bumperless look but that's just ...

Great project and car. Do you plan to keep her completely standard or are modifications/upgrades on the cards? Plan is keep a standard appearance but improved where it counts. Re: GT Junior Rebuild Thread
The replacement boot floor panel is a bit of a nightmare. When it arrives it isn't a fully formed panel, the side and rear edges are not formed, you need to trim and form it yourself. Also it's really made to suit the later cars and to fit in mine I had to add some metal and reform the shape around ...

Some more. Next phase was to sort the lip around the front and rear screens. I didn't look bad on the outside but I was concerned rust had started between the spot welds so I decided to cut of the the outter side of the lip which would allow me to de-rust properly. It was about this time that I boug...
